Your argument/opinion would here more validity if you'd ridden a Colnago and then could make the comparison in my opinion , the op states they have actually ridden a geared model before, which could arguably be why they have a preference for a Colnago pista
Regarding price, all depends on where you look, what your experience is, I'm building a super CX circa 84 that stands me in less than 200 euros
