Any thoughts on whether the Focus AX 105 would be good as an all rounder for road riding transitioning to more offroady bits (I'm not going to say the G word)? For example, I can't see mudguard eyelets. I looked at the geo specs but I'm not clever enough to work out if it translates to comfortable (mostly sub-century) rides?
Also congrats on your new biek @Cazakstan, I'm v jealous and irritated they don't have one in my size (men's petite)

How sub century? I'll not be going to do the South Downs on my CX.
-
• #3930
Well actually that is almost exactly what I had in mind. South downs, off road to Dover and Brighton, loops in Cambridgeshire. Mix of shit but not much longer than. More often maxing at 80 miles ish

Mountain Bike.

There is a reason people came up with the idea of them.

Noted, cheers

I'd quite happily use mine offroad and plan on doing that when I move back home... they can take a bit more of a battering than the average bike... depends on how smooth you are... I have seen a pro doing a downhill course on a CX bike so it's not impossible by any means
ps, that was jumps mainly and not big arse rocks, boulders or tree roots!

not big arse rocks, boulders or tree roots!
No channeling Danny Hart, @youramericanlover

• #3936
Big arse rocks would need something more chuckable

• #3937
... Or springy, and no, not Danny Hart-esque whatsoever!

Can't go wrong with Cannondale!

• #3941
YES WHAT COULD GO WRONG?
-
• #3942
It'll be fiiiiiine, it's not like I'm going to be abusing or crashing it...
-
• #3943
what could go wrong?
Nothing that CSG can't sort out....
Oh

Nothing that CSG can't sort out....
The difference in customer service between the US, UK and Europe is absolutely staggering.
But, well, Bicycle industry.
@Cazakstan will be fine though, nothing to go wrong on those 'crossers, probably why CSG like them so much :)

That said, I do wonder if there's some kind of mileage in a Cannondale only/specialist wrenching proposition for all those people who get them online / from Evans and then find out they can't get them fixed because of the incompetence of the dealer and their minimum wage slave wrenches.

Cannondale only/specialist wrenching
Something to keep you busy when you retire ;-)

I just end up fitting new bearing in for free on some of the Cannondale BB30 bikes.
Fucking tired of it.

Hi,
recently I upgraded my '09 Koga Crosswinner CX bike to '17 Cannondale CAADX 105.
I like the the Dale much, but it's noticeably heavier than my Koga, I guess because of disc brakes. So, the question is, what wheel-set you guys can recommend around 300gbp, that will save me some weight? I'm not racing it, it's my daily commuter and I do not run wider tyres than 35mm (currently Continental Cyclocross Speed clinchers, and loving them).
TY in advance!

Novatec D772SB / D771SB laced to Dt Swiss R460 or Kinlin XR22T.
If you don't build them yourself then try strada wheels or the cycle clinic.
If you want a complete set then these are pretty light for the money

Should really read most of the thread before posting anything!
