What a stupid argument. If you were a pro cyclist, why should you pay taxes in the UK given that most of your job is overseas?

really enjoyed the racing in london yesterday. was great to see my boy Roy Curvers hooning it up and down the Strand. Coal Hole had a couple of nice Hopback Brewery ales on cask.
and the sun was out.

If you are a pro cyclist who also rides for GB and so receives state funding, paying your taxes here would be nice.

Okay, so which UK pro cyclists are receiving 'state funding'?

I can't see the argument for some working for a foreign company and living in a foreign country to pay UK tax. Do you expect them to pay on top of the tax they pay in their country of residence?
How much funding are Froome, Dowsett, Cummings etc getting from UK sports authorities anyway, given most of their training is run by their trade team? Not much I'll wager.

Dowsett lives in Chelmsford.

But mostly works abroad. Also has a training business in the UK so he will pay UK tax on that.
I think there's more flagrant tax evasion to worry about than a handful of pro cyclists.

Are team sky not a UK registered company? That is how it appears on the wiki page but that could just be their UCI registration location so happy to be corrected.

Any/all of them who have competed for Team GB.
'State funding' was because my brain hurts today and the words won't come.

I think I read on Inrng Sky have all/most of their staff paid as freelance contractors so they can opt to be paid in whichever country they choose.
Thankfully the UK makes a tidy packets from overpaid forrins who come to play football. So - swings and roundabouts.

List of British Cycling funded athletes.
What funding they may receive listed. http://www.uksport.gov.uk/our-work/investing-in-sport/how-uk-sport-funding-works
Athletics gave a better list of what band of funding the athletes would receive. http://www.britishathletics.org.uk/world-class/2015-2016-funded-athletes/
So a few millionaire athletes (Mo Farah, Chris Froome, Mark Cavendish) listed as on funding lists.
