The Ivy Bridge non-retina models (late 2011) were the last models with officially sanctioned user-upgradeable/replaceable RAM and disk/SSD.
They also have USB 3, which is nice to have and had been out for ages already but whatever...Everything since has been a glued and welded together, proprietary clusterfuck.
Too many glued-together components for me... Could you still open those up and upgrade them yourself or did that void the warranty?
