  • I like the sound of Vegan döner kebap in Shoreditch.

I am proposing Thursday 8th or Friday 9th or Saturday 10th at 7-8ish.

How does that sound? Get on the list!

Thrasher + Mrs Thrasher (Available Thur, Fri, Sat)
    Oliver (available Thursday and Saturday)

  • Actually, that code function seems like the best way of doing lists on Microcosm. You have to indent the line a little and that seems to trigger it automatically.

  • I think I've pretty much decided not to consume any of those Frankenfoods, while I still can avoid them, obviously. I remember watching some old film in which everything was synthetic and it was very hard to get anything real, and that was very expensive. The film had something to do with cutlery, but I can't really remember the rest.

  • +1 for the vitamix.

  • South London peeps:

We're coming to town in October to visit friends in Crystal Palace. What are the best vegan/vegan friendly places south of the river?

    Thanks in advance!

  • My house in crystal palace.

Failing that.. Waiting room deptford is one suggestion. Good burgers and junk type things.

  • Persepolis has recently been mentioned in this thread. I haven't been, but glowing testimonies have been recorded by others.

  • Persepolis is amazing. Great middle eastern food and really nice staff. Very informal feels like someones lounge. Waiting Room has plenty of veggie and vegan options and great coffee - only down side is its always been rammed when I've been.

  • Cafe Zeret, Ethiopian restaurant off of Walworth road. vegan friendly and tasty food!

  • Thanks everyone, will check them out.

  • These look interesting for bike/backpacking types, 500-800kcal in ~200g. Vegan, made in the UK: https://tentmeals.co.uk

I guess they'd be easy enough to make something similar at home if you've got the time/patience to do the maths and figure out what tastes good...

  • priced pretty well too!

Why don't you use doodle ?

  • Love a bit of Ethiopian food.... loads of Lentils so it'll keep you regular for weeks!

  • And I don't know why but I got logged into my old account today and had to change my name cause my old name was taken... by me!

  • ...although when I was there, it kept me a little too regular i.e. every 5 minutes for about a week.

NB - Ethiopians 'fast' for Lent, which involves eating vegan food, but as much as you like. You just need to ask for 'fasting food' and you get a good meal everywhere you go.

  • Yea that's not good whatsoever... I've only eaten their food twice from the same place in Toronto, those massive breads, the flavours, everything's good about it... apart from the aforementioned toilet trips. I might try and drag my girlfriend there in a few weeks when we're over there

  • I'd hasten to add that it was most likely my fault, not the food - running many hours each day, not eating/drinking enough, getting pretty run down and shaking hands with everyone I met was a recipe for picking up some bug. You shouldn't really be getting ill on well-cooked lentil dishes.

Have not once craved injera since returning home, mind.

  • Vegan balls at ikea last night.

  • Why don't you use doodle ?

I have done in the past, perhaps Thrasher could have used it (shame there wasn't much interest), but lists have always worked well on here.

  • I have a feeling that the kebap place would be better for a midweek meet-up (Tuesday or Wednesday) and Persepolis for a Saturday. Hence:

Kebaps in Shoreditch, Wednesday 14th September, 6:30pm:

    1. Oliver

    Persepolis, Saturday 17th September, 8pm:

    1. Oliver
    2. Kat Balou
    3. onelesscardigan

OK, so the Saturday may be too short notice, and it may be too much with two events so close together, but let's see if anyone else bites. :)

  • I'm cooking this chickpea curry for the third time today.

If you like chickpeas and hot and spicy do try it!

  • This could be good but I'm away :(

  • If all goes well these rides will become a regular thing.
