Mega long shot but does anyone have a front disc wheel that they would be willing to lend/rent to me? My son is riding in the youth track champs and could do with one for the individual pursuit. Based in Bristol/Bath but can get to Wales and will be in Derby for the event.
May even consider buying one if anyone has one going cheap.

Any one looking for a cheap fluidisk track rear?
Edit: sorry this was unclear, not selling one but saw an add for a cheap one.

How cheap?
-
• #332
Don't need it but I've asked for more pics.. I am tempted..
-

Its not a fluidisk I don't think, the texture and colour is more like a juna. Plus 3 holes piercing the the skin isn't great
-
• #334
That's my bad, assumed color difference was due to lighting.

Quite like his cosmic track wheels tho...
-
• #336
Its battered but the holes/damage doesn't look structural so if it stays sub 150 could be a bargain roadie disc for someone

I dunno... I wanted to make some quip involving pancakes, swiss cheese, or pizza. Something about holes and flatness but I can't think of one.

A friend asked what I thought of this.
Dated and a bit pricey?

I have bought an old HED like that recently, it is an old screw on freewheel type. I was hoping to run it 8 speed but only a 7 speed block will fit in the frame.
I am thinking about converting it for track instead now, has anyone done that?
Failing that I may flog it!

I was thinking to use one of those freewheel-screw-to-fixed adapters for the Soviet 4Spoke, also set as 7 speed at the mo. Let me know how you get on

I have a HED converted to track with an adaptor
The adaptor is secured with an epoxy adhesive and it works fine for track use
I've never unwound mine through slowing down but I would never brake with it on the streetA track adaptor on a freewheel threaded hub to get the correct chainline is totally fine for track use and it's the method Mavic used for it's old Comete disc wheels (adaptor + a track axle)

I have one of thes adaptors also, seems to be ok, there are some out there that use grub screws but seem hard to find

Thanks for the comments, are you able to link to the adaptors you used please?

I think this is it:

Off topic but the same guys are selling this on eBay:

Pretty cool 'fixxer'-type kit for Novatec road wheels. -

I've got one of the Walker Brothers ones on an old Russian wheel, word of warning is that it's designed to space the cog for a geared frame so if you're using it on a 120mm rear spaced frame you'll need to space the chainring out to compensate and it may limit your max. sprocket size depending on the dropout design. Does mean you can run a silly big chainring without fouling your chainstays though...

SPNK used to sell both road and track versions, but only offer the track-spaced version now.

I'm a disc newbie and wanted to ask if the dings/dents on the below example are problematic or good to go. Any idea on the make or model? Thanks in advance!

looks like a HED disc, has the tell tale signs of the valve hole opening and general texture of the disc and uneven resin splodges. Its very common for these to be very dented by now given the age. Its fine.

Glad to hear that and thanks for the info! I already bought it so I'm waiting for the package to arrive to take some detail shots to determine whether it is indeed a hed or sth else.
