Thinking about putting a 700c fork on my build but keeping the 26" wheel. Any issues with that?
Clearance? My 26" MTB fork has about twice as much space between the legs as my 700c forks to accommodate fat tyres.

That's what I've done with mine. If you got the clearance, no particular issue, but it may lower the BB and straighten (? - can't find the word) the HT and ST angles.
Which in my case was OK, and the handling feels good and predictable (that was my main worry) -

Very lovely vagabond!
I need the details please, as I'm seriously just about to pull the trigger on the frame set in purple! -
• #683
What details do you want? Ive got it set up 11 speed single oval ring. Its a really cool bike. Handles a surprising amount of off road. How were you planning on building yours?

Found some space in the garage :-)

I'm missing a drop bar off road rig. :0)
I've still got my Ti Airbourne, which I'm going to try some 650b wheels in if I can find anyone to borrow some off....I need the front end up higher to fit drops on it though. But I've also got all the bits off of that, that would go on a new frame....say a vagabond in purple!

What are the brakes and wheel tyre combo? Always love a bit of tan-wall action! I've got some old XTR mechs and bits and bobs to throw on a frame.....

This thread is my new favourite thread on lfgss

I can see the wheels are cross rides, and that the tyres are maxxis somethings, but what model? And what brakes?
-
• #691
correct on wheels and tyres.
Brakes are what I had in the parts box. ultegra mechanical disc on the rear and trp spyre up front. ideally I'd like a little more power from the brakes but they are just about strong enough.
it rides great.and handles mtb trail really really well

oh tyres are maxxis ardent 2.2s

ardents.... Nice one.
I've just got to work out my pennies.....!

Nah, I've got my pump in there.

It's got a tent, waterproofs, 12 packets of super noodles, 4l of water, thermos and a washing line. As food has been eaten this has emptied so it's now just a tent and wet clothes.

I went for quick cook porridge with dried fruit and milk powder, home made bars, jelly blocks and noodles as snacks, couscous and tuna as lunch and rice and pasta with 'look what I found' sauces. I've been able to collect water from streams for all but a 3 day stint where I had to carry 3 days worth.

They have not spared me, I'm a broken cold and wet man.
-
• #698
I'd love to try it if you have one I can borrow. I think you might be at risk of blowing over with a frame bag

Chapeau! sounds epic, please write a report once you've dried off.

Pains me to say it. But if anyone is interested, my vagabond is sort of up for sale. (stretched myself a bit thin buying too many bikes) £1200
Higher BB, more stress on HT, slacker HT angle. Not sure why you would want to.
