  • The Bidlake Memorial Time Trial

I'd like to draw your attention to this event.

It's something out of the ordinary, and if you're feeling a bit jaded after a season of chasing up and down drag strips, this could revive your enthusiasm. Here's a link to my report of last year's edition.

Apart from having an excellent course one of the attractions of the event is the after party. I can't promise exactly who will be present but in previous years a large number of former time trial stars have turned out to help or ride. From memory last year saw the presence of Les West, Frank Colden, Martyn Roach and Alf Engers, among others.

The course is two 18 mile laps, but it is possible to specify that you are only going to do one circuit. It is hilly, and I wouldn't attempt it on fixed, but I'm sure anyone strong enough to do it would at least get a round of applause.

This year's event is on Sunday the 18th September: entries close next week, but I think the organiser may be flexible on this point, however I advise you to get your entry in as soon as possible.
