Thanks for the input everyone! @hamrack 28c is more or less dictated by the width of the rims and the clearances of the bike in question. I'm not planning to ride on gravel because I want to but a lot of bicycle paths in rural areas in southern Germany are gravel roads so 23c is far from ideal for touring, also because it would be nice to run a lower tire pressure on longer distances. @Simba I think I'll give the Durano's a try, so far I was quite happy with the quality/price ratio of schwalbe tyres
