11t i think, since putting the 650b x 2.0 on from 700c 38 i'm much further down the block for most riding. I've ordered a 46t to hopefully keep me more towards the midde of the block

I was 70KG once. Aged 13... to be fair throwing my 6ft 4, 95KG body around on the bike it probably hates me.
I've just moved back to Somerset so will hopefully be back down to sub 90KG soon with the lack of traffic lights and many miles of cycling.
As @dancing james says, carbon wheels are the way forward with discs. All year round fun!

i had the same issue with the rotors flexing into the calipers on uphills. so fucking annoying. this was instantly solved with a better non weight-weenie QR. I assume if it isnt your QR then the brakes will need to be rebled to accomodate the slightly wider calipers?

and yes. carbon wheels with discs is surely a no brainer, looking forward to fitting mine and dropping a calculated 600g off my heavy as fuck superstar wheels
-
• #6807
given that disc brakes self adjust when new pads are put in, they should not need adjusting when using wider rotors (if that is what you meant)

I did reset the piston in the calliper before fitting these too...

You selling the superstars? - weight & specs?
What are you replacing them with?

It's true, the 25.4 seat post had me worried initially - I actually contacted Cannondale who informed me it had a 125KG weight limit.
On the flip side, I called Hope about the wheels I now have. The guy laughed and told me that Hope don't do weight limits. Instead they make things that don't break!
Lets compare waist sizes. It's probably fairer... 32" ;)

yes but someone else dibsed them. 2100g lol. light bicycle 35mm rims on tune hubs. flossy
@dancing james i knew that they adjusted for pad wear, but didnt know it did it the other way. sorry i should stop spouting shit

am also a somewhat slender 32". annoying as buying suits off the peg is impossible unless I get them adjusted at a tailor

Meh - the Aksiums are lighter!!!

Having ridden a Slate with a 42t chainring and 10t cog, I was surprise how hard it is to pedal.
It work out 110gi, a 42/11 give you just 100gi, a massive 10gi difference.
46/10 is as close as 52/12 (121gi vs. 124gi).

When using wider rotor, it actually have slightly less levers throw as the calipers is set for the original rotors.
If people want to make their brakes feel slightly sharper, take out the wheel, carefully pump the levers to push the piston out slightly, reinsert the wheels, squeeze a couple time, and boom, sharper bite (abet more likely to hear a slightly out of true rotor).

CAAD4 headshok will be way outside their 6 year window.
Could post it to Mendon in the US...
Or me here...

ORLY?
Seriously there are pages and pages of images of busted Hope hubs out there that they just replace under warranty no questions asked whilst mumbling about spoke tension which is only reason they have a good rep. When they blow they really blow

light bicycle + tune

Was going to chime in with a similar sentiment earlier.
In fairness, the hubs I've owned (Bulb Ti, XC, Pro II & Pro III rear, XC & Pro III front) have been excellent, but every other part I've purchased (Minis, Mono M4s, full complement of CNC ano finishing kit) has either not performed properly from new, or failed in some way under fair use. They must believe their QC has improved in the intervening 10-12 years. -

Scored a pair of these hens teeth last week with a view to build up another dale.
Would anyone with a CAD3 or 2.8 series be kind enough to measure their head tube (including headset) so I know what size frame these fit onto? The steerer is 167mm. Hoping their for a 54 others they may be up for grabs : )

ha! I read the SiSl2 manual by mistake which is exact reverse spindle/spacer logic lols .. all sorted now. Bike just lost 250g!
But also I only weigh 70kg so that's probably a factor in wheel flex.
