  • Ditto!!! In the end, I think I only bought MBUK for Mint Sauce!

  • Where to go for Sidi spares? The soles on mine have disintegrated at an alarming rate.

  • Direct from UK distributor:

    http://www.saddleback.co.uk/shop-by-brand/sidi-sport-shoes-and-accesories/sidi-accessories-and-spares

(you have to click "Load More" at the bottom to see the SRS parts)

  • Nothing listed for the Spiders, which have a different sole. Will send them a message and see if they can order them in. Thanks!

  • Do Sidi do any SPD shoes with replaceable soles in size 50?

  • I couldn't find any - they do the Eagle 5 (which I've got), but they're not replaceable soles. Cheapest with replaceable soles are Dragon and they only go up to 48. Sizeist bastards.

  • Just looked at Sidi's website, all the fancy shoes only go up to 48 :(

  • Nah, reckon I'll give up on the idea for now and just accept that I won't be able to replace the soles. Might look for something else when they do die, but options for quality SPD shoes are limited in my size.

Oh, in other news - I've still got a pair of size 52 Sidi Genius 5 Pro Carbon road shoes that are brand new. Bought them 2nd hand off eBay from a guy who bought 'em only to find out they were too big. Turns out that was the case for me as well. They're about a size 17UK. If you have any massive friends, let 'em know, I'm not after much for them :)

  • I've got some Eagle 5 one size up cheap second hand,
I stuck some thick walker/runner soles in them,
    works perfectly well.
A bonus in winter: I can multilayer easily.

  • When my Dominators wear out I'm very tempted to try the Giro Republic LX touring shoes for the same purpose, mainly for the reflectiveness and the replaceable walking bits - but have no idea on fit yet

  • I thought about those too.

Was actually led there by Rapha.

Thought process went: Nice Sidi's are expensive and I could afford Rapha shoes... oh yeah, Rapha do shoes... made by Giro apparently, let's look at Giro.

But I've heard from too many that they're a bit narrower, and I use custom footbeds in my Sidis and have space for those.

I'm basically just going to wait another month or two and then in a fit of desperation throw a pair of Drakos on my credit card.

  • @velocio

I have giro shoes and sizing is pretty similar to sidis.

I have the terraduro for when I need to walk around after riding - they have a full vibram sole which grips better and is harder wearing than sidi dominators.

The republics are nice but the sole lugs self destruct in a matter of weeks.

Vr90 is my performance carbon two bolt shoe, super stiff vibram sole lugs but they are much smaller than the terraduros so would not expect the sole to last as well if using for a lot of walking.

  • Agree with james, the replaceable pads on the giros aren't fit for purpose, mine were dead in a month or two.
Quite happy with my vibram soled giro empire though.

  • Agree with james

a definite sign of moral terpitude

  • a definite sign of moral terpitude

    turpitude surely?

Unless you mean depravity with terrapins and are into inventing new words.

Still unconvinced by Giro. Too wide a range, too much "this stuff is terrible" vs "this is pretty good" variance between things in the range.

At least with Sidi I can see how it goes from "OK" through to "Stupidly good" in even and consistent steps with no room for me to fuck it up and buy something gash.

And hey, shiny shoes with logos are my bag baby.

  • sidi will last, giro will get you instagram likes.

I want new shoes but my sidis refuse to die!! Get the ones with bits that can be replaced i.e. not Dominators. I'd vote for Dragon.

  • so badass!

  • No love for Drako?

  • them too! Whats the diff between them and dragons?

  • @amey mesh vs shiny stuff all over

  • More shiny bits to make it easier to clean, the wire constrictor thing goes down the front to even out the tension, absolutely everything is replaceable: everything the Dragon has that is replaceable and a few extra bits (can you replace the toe cap on the Dragon?).

My interest in them... they're pretty much Dragon quality but look a little less in your face with the different materials and logos.

When you're already at this price range... who cares about the difference any longer.

  • shiny definitely and black. There are better looking shoes out there but I doubt anything will last as long as Sidi. Plus the #EuroSteez on Sidi aesthetics is off the charts!

  • And with the £ collapsing, they're effectively a good investment that will only appreciate.

  • I like my eagle 6 SRS shoes BUT the lining around my ankle always wears out on sidis - have gone to Bont for my road shoes which have much better fabric around the ankle. Wish they would use something more durable...
