  • Subbed - rolling chasis looks sick. Shame about steerer.

  • I have a cellar for that sort of thing. Parcels arrive and then goes down there. 9 months later a bike emerges .
She ,the GLW, seems not to notice....

  • I've given up even trying now

  • mmmmmmmuuuuuurrrduuuuuurrrrrr.

what if you paint the wall black?

  • Nah - only biek stuff iz black

  • but if the wall is the black the bieks disappear and the significant other doesnt notice.
    alternatively, paint all bikes white.
    or camo

  • Bloody hell, impressive stuff. Rourke looks awesome

  • Need a better stable pic gums on black is strong

  • Did you get the groupset at the end?

  • Ultratorque cranks and you'll be fine

until you need to change the bearings

edit @Ste_S srry overlooked your comment

    nice stable @Dick !

  • The fact that the bearings are fitted to the crank (rather than in the cup), is one of the things that makes UT great: the (cheap) cups wear out, rather than the (not so cheap) cranks.

Changing the bearings is straight forward and isn't something you'll be doing very often anyway.

  • I've always just bought new cranks rather than faff around with replacing bearings

  • I've always just bought new bikes rather than faff around with replacing things

    is the correct answer, obvs

  • Sorry, I was forgetting whose thread this is...

  • However my CULT bearings gave up after 2 months of use from new. Luckily I replaced them with USB ones and they are spinning smoothly for more than 2 years.

  • That's about right for ceramic bearings in a British summer, isn't it? :)

  • Looking forward to seeing this finished. Lovely Rourke, and stable!

  • Got caught under the rain once, £120 worth of ceramic tiny balls thrown out of the window.

  • CAAD has Strada Bianca on now aswell

  • Groupset is waiting in the wings!

  • Quick update -
'Forked out' for a new fork

Will try and find some time this weekend to start building!

  • What about putting so colours on those steeds (headsets and collars) or keeping it stealthy...

  • I do agree a little flash of colour might be good - I'm not going to touch the Giant as that's full on bat-bike shit, and if I'm honest, if the Rourke is as good as I'm hoping it's going to be, the CAAD will probably be sold, so that's those two out of the questions....

The Rourke currently has a silver CK headset in it, which I actually really like as a bit of a retraction from all black - although I have a black Sotto Voce CK on the way which I may put in....

Not really sure what other colour I could bring to it other than a headset change and a custom, matching CK wheelbuild.... Really open to suggestion though.
