ah the memories, just came back from a week in hay on wye
spent more time analysing the beer and the views than the tarmac to be truthfulably demonstrated by my niece
good effort clint / jonny

Gospel pass is a whopper! the Hay on Wye side is deffo the harder ascent, but it's also a much nicer descent going down that way than going down to Abergavenny.

yep, probably. I like to max out on jauntiness when I can

the descent into Hay was brilliant. you could tell it would have been much harder tackled from that side. the loop was one of those strange ones yesterday where it felt like there was more down than up

Nice! I rode from Bristol out to the pass and back in the spring... wish I could say the same about that ride. It destroyed me!
Enjoy the rest of your trip dudes!

Blacktop Update. They know how to lay some nice blacktop down in these parts. and they know how to put it down at angles.
and I always give a dire thanksgiving to the gods of rolling for that.

Day three. Climb llangynidr mountain x2
Started out with a full English just to change it up a bit. Chef deep fried the mushrooms and ruined that experience but we rise above these things. Focus.
Set off with some trepidation today and the climb up unpronounceable mtn from the south side was long , straight and arduous. The descent was tricky due to crosswinds but enjoyable. Then we pressed on to another unpronounceable village for lashings of coleslaw (they love coleslaw in the valleys) . After nourishing our athletic bodies on white cabbage and carrot we rode alongside an unpronounceable reservoir turned around and headed home the same way. Soon came under attack from a vast cloud of midges ( do not ride in Wales without glasses. I'm not saying bring as many different pairs as Jonny but do not venture out here without protection and for fucks sake keep your mouth closed) then headed for the attack* on unpronounceable mtn from the more manly @andyp side . Actually this approach is much more manageable . Extremely steady gradient and much more interesting with the hairpins. Just sit and spin. Strava clearly shows I put a whole second into Lee Harris, a man I have long been locking horns with. I hope he enjoys being ranked 435th this year on this particular beast. Eat my wheel mutha fucka.- attack- a slow plodding attempt
At moving forward

so much we failed to take in an ice cream. but do treat your niece to a scoop at Shepherds Cafe next time you are in theatre.
Don't order a Latte cos as Tim will attest noone in the area gets the concept.

Tim's Flaura and Fauna Corner :
Today was definitely a day for the nature connoisseurs amongst us. I have always been a fan of wild grasses and often find them neglected for their more hussy, look at me, show pony flowering cousins in the plant world. Wales has an abundance of wild grasses for you all to enjoy while riding. I found this particular beauty also acted as good cover for sneaking up on and scaring sheep.

some pretty decent Blacktop out there today. didn't get the chance to check the ph balance but got pretty close and personal all the same.
special shout to the tarmac between Hay On Wye and Talgarth. the rise out of there on Penbont Road was interesting too.
enjoyed this section before the Gospel Pass
