  • New helmets too... Ghibli (rear) discs is a change as well.

  • Yeah campag was a bit of a surprise. Vittoria tubs too, wonder if they will use something else for racing.

Not so sure on helmets, they looked very similar to 2012 ones but in white rather than red.

All had fancy full carbon aero custom slippers. Wiggins and doull on speedplay aero. Doull managed to unclip at the start of one of the reps...

Wiggins spent most of the session looking pissed off, he would always be the first one on the track though.

  • They are rounder.

  • Wiggins used Pista Evo CL Gold for his hour record, expect they'll be on the same for pursuit? Inflated with Argon or something silly like that as well.

  • These had a black tread, think they were standard pista Evo cs. There was a chap sat at a table glueing them up for the whole duration of the session.

  • Ed Clancy is a big unit. Those shoulders must cost him a fair bit of cda, guess he makes up for it with raw powah.

  • Inflated with nitrogen from a bottle labelled helium.

  • Apparently he offered to have his collarbones shortened!

  • Sorry to distract from team GB, but what would be the approx time/aero gain between the following sets of wheels - riding 310km from London to Paris (solo) at around 25kph average?

    Mavic Ksyrium Elite (2014 ish)
    Giant P-SLR 1 50mm clinchers

Mavics are really easy to change a tyre, I have had some angry moments, and pinched tubes with the Giants, so just trying to weigh up the options.

  • Ksyriums are notoriously un-aero. Also the Giant wheels are wider - I would be inclined to take the Giants and pack some tyre levers.

  • At 25kph, you're about 25kph slower than the speed generally used in aero tests.

I assume this won't be on closed roads, so use the lighter of the two wheels so that accelerating from zero takes less effort.

  • How much effort/time are the Danish team pursuiters wasting wearing their new, baggy shirts?:

  • Looks like a jersey/short combo so I'd be surprised if that was anything other than training gear. You don't cough up for double discs and then not wear a skinsuit.

  • Ah! I was wondering who'd be supplying the Danish team after Cervelo jumped ship to BC.

  • Why do BC get a fashion designer in every 4 years to make ugly kit, when Denmark can use the same classic design for decades? :-)

  • Because the Union Flag looks shit as anything but a flag. Same for most flags that aren't a simple geometric form, ignoring decoration.

RSA's flag as a garment would get away with the borders on its Pall (Y-stripe) if there were fewer colours. Tanzania's flag has borders on its Bend (diagonal stripe), but the borders are both yellow, dividing blue, black stripe and green.

The Union Flag compounds its excess of components by lacking symmetry, the red saltire being counterchanged. This means you can't use the same design front and back without having misalignment at the sides.

  • @danb @Emyr - I went for the Kysriums in the end, averaged about 26kph moving and had no punctures so theoretically would have been better with the Giants, but it was fun either way. Decided not to go super fast anyway, save that for next time.

  • Glad to hear no punctures :) Nice one

  • It was presented as their final kit, but it does seem really weird...

  • We've had some shit stuff inbetween. And the new one could've been so good, but they've insisted on some really shit details, like the coat d'arms and the DEN + half an 'M'. And then there's the three differentieret shades of red...

  • say I'm doing 10 miles in 30 mins/@20mph on wheels that have 32 non aero spokes and a23 rims on the flat. I swap the wheels for some sweet aero wheels but kept everything including my position and power and rode the same course again, approx how much time would I save?

    What about 10mines/40mins/@15mph?

    Windless day obvs.

  • Not a lot

  • flo 45 vs mavic open pro 32 spokes:
    10miles / 30min@20mph =
    99.28 seconds / 40 * 16
    ~40 seconds

I dont know if this is 1 or 2 wheels

    link -> http://flocycling.blogspot.dk/2016/06/flo-cycling-how-much-time-will-flo.html

    edit: seem a lot...

  • whats the region, 5-10s, 30-45s?

  • flo 45 vs mavic open pro 32 spokes:
    10miles /30min @ 20mph =
    ~40 seconds

If that is per wheel (and the maths is as simple as 40*2) that is a shit load of time.
