Actually no looking at it again the geometry is a wee bit off

Anyone had a bike nicked? This has been sat outside for ~15 mins without the rear wheel lock being engaged. I assumed that anyone that would leave it in the road unattended gives zero fucks, so I assumed the worst, that it's stolen. DM me if it's yours.

Is this yours?

Found abandoned and unlocked in east London. Not in great nick with one brake removed and a somewhat smashed rear mech but fixable. If you know the serial or any identifying marks, it's yours!

Hi all, sad to say my Minimax was nicked last night from a "secure" canal side set of moorings in Hoxton London (i l know, if i read that last bit I'd be thinking the same thing) It probably still is a matt black one with silver decals, Avid BB5 disc brakes, black race face seat post with and old black & red Flight saddle. There's an old black, 70's 'Blumels Lightweight' rear mudguard on the back housing a 32mm Durano slick, a sprayed 451 Ankle Biter rim on the front with a Schwalbe Shredda on it. 90's 105 cranks in silver and a 952 XTR rear mech. Specialized lock on grips, cheap plastic Salt levers...thats about it I think. I've put out something on the LCEF Facbook page, thought I'd try here too. 07977421519 if you hear/see anything. Cheers, Simon Dee

Sorry to hear about your loss. You might want to edit out the exact address, though. It's not necessary at all for people potentially spotting the bike.

It has an Arione saddle, On One rear wheel, Mavic Aksium front wheel, Miche cranks, Time Atac pedals, full sks mudguards, Easton seatpost, Planet X stem, Bontrager sgr bars. My Felt TK2 was nicked from inside a friend's flat in the Stockwell area at 0200 this morning. It's got destickered Mavic Ellipse wheels, a black Fizik Arione saddle and silver Sram Omnium cranks. The photos are a bit out of date but you get the idea. :(

I had my Giant TCR SL2 stolen from work last week; securely double locked but some arsehole just came in and cut through both locks. It's probably gone but it's as below (with crud racers and ultegra wheels/hubs)

What locks did you use?

I had a Dawes Super Galaxy touring bike stolen over the weekend in central Westminster and would be really grateful if people could keep their eyes out for it. It was D-locked to a lamppost loop on Monck Street behind the Home Office on Marsham Street. The bike was around 5-10 years old but in very good condition. Large 25" frame, pedals with toestraps, a San Marco brown leather saddle, and a rear pannier rack. Reward available for any information which leads to its recovery.
Thanks.

It may be worth giving Charing Cross Police Station a call. A little-known fact is that it's not permitted to park bikes around Whitehall and other Government offices. I don't think I have (or anyone else has) ever been able to find a map showing the actual extent of this zone, which appears to be part of some fairly ancient anti-terrorist measures and is said to be aimed specifically against the alleged danger of bike bombs being left in the area. John Adams has written on this:
http://www.john-adams.co.uk/2011/05/05/bicycle-bomb-update/
(This contains links to earlier blog posts of his.)
I don't know if Monck Street is included in this, but it may well be, as it is behind the Home Office. If so, your bike may have been removed by police and taken to Charing Cross Police Station. People to whom this has happened in the past have usually had the cost of their destroyed lock(s) reimbursed to them, as the police seem to acknowledge that people who leave their bikes there couldn't have known about the ban, so it may be worth digging out your old receipt or investigating the cost of a lock/locks now before you go to pick it up. Also take proof of ownership if you have it. (As you've now posted it on a public forum, someone dishonest who reads this might try to beat you to retrieving it, so it might be worth taking the picture down.)
I hope it is the case that the police took it and that you get it back that way.

Thanks very much for your interesting reply Oliver. Being optimistic about the standards of our policing, and probably a bit naive, I do find it hard to believe that the Met would do this without any attempt to explain or apologise - but it seems like there is a history to this and anything is worth a shot, so I'll go and see what Charing Cross police station have to say...

Good luck, I hope that's the explanation. Given that this area has blanket coverage of very active CCTV, I doubt very much that any bike thieves operate there. Please do report back.

Not of use to you, but another anecdote about bike locking in Westminster.
I once met a friend at the Red Lion, Parliament Street. He was new to London and had unknowingly walked into the MoD carpark (past security, who didn't notice) and locked his bike up there. A few hours and a few pints later he wandered back to get his bike, but the security guard (who was now awake/aware) wouldn't let him into the carpark. He was eventually allowed back into get his bike after Police did a stop 'n search on him.

Yes, you can safely lock up inside car parks. I've been to two cycling conferences at Church House, for instance, and attendees could lock up inside. There's also the Abingdon Car Park, off Abingdon Street under College Green, where it's possible to leave bikes.

I know its not a fixie but... my GT LTS of 18 years was stolen in stoke newington. Let me know if you see it, anyone, would appreciate getting it back!
Recovered today! A Deliveroo cycle courier had bought it in Holloway Road Market. A good place to check if yours gets nicked in North/East London!
