I saw a better spaced movement graph a couple of days and it looked like he'd been riding very regularly and taking a good 4/5 hours rest daily
Last time I looked, this was also my impression. In fact, I think one of the things that marks the current top 4 from several of their fading chasers is the disciplined rest pattern.

Searching for joviality through this thread. Hope they weren't thinking of Oliver.

Jovial conjures images of fat middle aged men #thatsmethatis #beencalledworse

I am certainly fat, probably beyond middle aged and most decidedly not jovial

Read elsewhere that he took 33 hrs overall, which when you account for food/water etc is still incredible. Imagine he is Rip Van Winkle for the next week.

Looks like the front few riders were lucky to find cover last night around Skopje.
Not sure what was going through #60 head as he pushed through the night cycling through this

Every time I come back to this I'm just blown away. Chapeau to all involved. It's especially exciting to see those regularly on here doing so well.

he has wasted away to a shadow of his former self?

Bit of a play with Google Maps.
Reckons that Neil has 288km remaining (set to driving, no cycling mode available).
Carlos is about 41km behind him, with James a further 42km back.

That race for second/third/fourth is a proper forum affair now.

Wasn't 60 (Carlos) already in Greece then? Did you mean 80 (Nelson Trees)?

• #3592
Pushing through that storm is hardcore -proper racing.

• #3593
last night Neil was tweeting about a crazy storm, skinny was stopped but it didn't look like he was in a building and Carlos was still plodding on.
-
• #3594
Nope he got to Greece this morning as he went passed Neil whilst he sat out / slept through the storm

OK, one of the competitors is Lara Prior-Palmer, niece of 1980s equestrienne Lucinda. Lara has won the Mongol Derby, which is a 1000km horse race across the steppes. They change horses every 40km.
Great fact that i missed earlier

Ex-pro 93 Geoffory Dussault is only 1,500m behind Skinny on the same road, both making good speed. The battle for podium spots is getting incredibly tight!

epic racing for 2nd and 3rd, as well as 4th and 5th. surely some of these guys are gonna be getting the same ferry? will arriving at the ferry effectively decided places. wonder what the rules/etiquette demand
-
• #3598
Somebody posted the rules a few pages back but essentially it will be judged on who gets to the ferry terminal first as recorded by their tracker or some other proof of arrival (cashpoint receipt etc.).

4 guys arrested at a cash machine ! Que jumping suspected (jovial content 👌)

Neil doing amazingly well, I think the stop in Skopje has given him the edge over Carlos. Couldn't believe they raced through a storm severe enough to make the BBC news.
Skinny has some close company, will have to check out when they each rested last as that could be the deciding factor.
Just asking as I saw a better spaced movement graph a couple of days and it looked like he'd been riding very regularly and taking a good 4/5 hours rest daily. 12 hours over 9 days is most likely medically impossible, but you never know...
