I just went to check on where he was, and thought I'd have a quick look on google streetview - turns out he's just passed the exact point you linked to earlier with the mafia meeting and the ludicrous views! Shame he's passing in the dark... I guess that's one of the drawbacks of this extreme cycling. You miss the views in the dark. You also miss out on so much of the beer/food/wine that the regions have to offer... which is why I am an 80 mile a day tourer rather than an extreme transcontinenttal racer!

Alex Wright showing as scratched now but everything in her Twitter account suggests otherwise. May just be down to her inoperative tracker. I really hope so.

Assuming he makes it to the finish, Hippy will be passing by Gallipoli, for those unfamiliar with it, a place loaded with Aussie history.

Seconded. It's a shame, but a race is a race, they'll have other occasions to go back in touring mode.

I (mostly) did that Flatlands last year @cgg. Was really flat. Nice ride. snapped a seatpost somewhere like Huntingdon on the way home. had to do a bloody hilly one in Wales (which was actually gorgeous, but the hardest ride I have ever done) to get my SR.

Basically utterly dominant. A clear day ahead of the rest of the field.
