I've heard rumours of Campag developing it / something very similar.

Now are you sure that's a good idea???

Has anyone seen UK pricing for the SRAM Etap HydroHC upgrade kits? With eurobike approaching I'd have thought it would leak out somewhere.

Thought I'd use the forum hive mind.
Just brought the genesis day one alfine 8 Di2, and I'm looking to replace the frame with something more custom/lighter. Shifter/derailleur question, if this frame was to have a derailleur hanger, would I be able to use my current shifter with a Di2 rear derailleur? As I'm thinking (and this might be crazy) to swap out the alfine at a later date, for a normal geared wheel and run a 1x10 or 1x11 set up...
Or would I need to get a new shifter and derailleur to make this idea work?Let me know..

Should work. Alfine shifters won't trigger a front mech but the rear mech should work correctly.
-

Yes it would work fine with 6870, 9070 or xt and xtr di2. You might want to go for a clutched mech for a 1x set up.
Do you have internal battery and a stem mounted junction box?
-
• #1742
No need for clutched mech if you fit a narrow wide chainring.
-
• #1743
They are cool though.

I have the seatpost battery and the handlebar mounted gear indicator (which Im assuming is the junction box), the shifter is Shimano's own alfine gear and brake lever
this one
http://www.artscyclery.com/Shimano_Alfine_S705_Di2_Shifters/descpage-SHDI2SLALF.htmlwhich most seem to say isn't compatible..
I have no idea what a clutched mech is..
I have no idea whether a narrow wide chainring will fit the crankset I'll use on the bike...
Would like to reuse as many components where possible.. -
• #1745
What crankset do you have? Then we can help.
-
• #1746
bastards.
-
• #1747
Right now it's the shimano alfine crankset, was going to put some sugino 75s on there... Bit concerned about the lack of 144bcd chain rings though..
-
• #1748
You can get wide narrow chainrings for 130 bcd cranks, like the Alfine. Not sure they are readily available for 144 bcd cranks though.
Try Absolute Black or Race Face.

seems @Pete4Eyes already asked the question and you can get one custom made from these guys in the states

Alfine is 130BCD. Lots of NW chainring options.
So, Ribble didn't include Junction A, as in this photo. WTF?
