In at the deep end, good luck! Take lots of pictures, that's what I do when taking engines apart, my memory doesn't seem as reliable as it once was.

I always take photos too. I also replace screws back in their respective positions as I remove parts, so as not to mix them up.

Looks really nice. Keep us up to date with the rebuild!

Stupider anyway...

Btw, I was being sarcastic when I said a chrono wasn't challenging enough. I predict the death of a watch that should be save-able.

Went out to hunt around antique and vintage stores yesterday in Hamilton, ON. First store we went in I found this handsome looking Lancia. Kind of had to buy it with the car connection but really like it. Haven't managed to find out much about it on the net but it's a 17 Jewel Auto. Didn't pay much of it so going to try and clean it up and see what kind of time it keeps.

Could anyone help me pick a ladies automatic watch, possibly similar to this? I'm after clean design and simple lines with stainless steel bracelet and a black dial.

I'm thinking of getting the SKX007K2. Never bought such an expensive watch before so I'm really doubting if I should. Any valid reasons not to or reasons why I should? Can the bezel and glass be easily replaced and are they available online if I scratch them (that's my biggest fear)? I can buy it from a jewel store for 315 euro's. Cheapest I was able to find it.

Good to hear :)

Can confirm. It's basically an automatic G-Shock.
Mine still looks mint after five years of torture and keeps better time than ever.

I just ordered an SKX009. Ummmd and ahhhhd about it for ages but after reading all the reviews I thought it was worth going for. I should have ordered it from Creation but ended up ordering from a seller in Japan via Amazon. Watch was ordered two weeks ago and is in transit. Ordered a G Shock from creation on Friday and it's due to be delivered here in Canada today or tomorrow. Free shipping with DHL too.

Finally had a chance to take the back off this mystery watch, and this happened. Errr, now what...?
The good news is that it's running fine, I just don't know who made it

Side view, no obvious way to take the back off that I can see

The movement draws out from the rear section of the case. Try carefully pulling / wiggling the crown while holding the rear section.
Wash you hands after as the numerals may have radium on them.

I'm in, thanks!
Apparently it's an Avia Meteor, which Internet research suggests isn't anything particularly amazing. -

Is it gold?

Braver man than I.
