Anyone know anything about disc brakes?

The end looks frayed and that might be the problem. Maybe try a bench grind or a Dremmel to get a clean flat cut.

Or could the yellowish bit be the problem? Try trimming that so it's flushed with the black casing?

It's a slightly confusing pic - so the cable was all nice and squared off with the dremmel but it was just slightly too big for the hole.

So I've stripped off the black rubber and cut back the yellow kevlar/cotton (whatever it is!) to make the diameter smaller - that's why you can see the frayed ends of yellow stuff, and indeed, why the end of the cable itself is now slightly botched in the photo - I've tidied that up again.

Essentially just worried I've ruined the structural integrity of the cable by stripping half of it away! Sod it, might just get some more of the jagwire I know that fits.

You should be able to shove it in.

Lots of bike come with compressionless and 4700 levers anyway, my Yozokuna Reaction which is pretty thick, fit in.

I find it easier to just fit it in the best you can do, set up brake, squeeze levers to push the housing in properly.

Got some of these things to prevent water ingress at the rear caliper cable adjuster (trp spyre, chainstay post mount, water runs into cable outer). But can't really grasp how dafuq they're supposed to be fitted, they're much longer than I thought. Through the adjuster? Anyone know?

Edit - they're called jagwire dirt guard and google isn't being helpful. Got them off eBay and no instructions.

Looks like they're to go at the other end - so into a conventional cable stop, if you're running an internal liner

Am building a tourer with a front disc, and bar end shifters, so need a front brake lever that only operates the disc.

Have found these

But can't find much written about them, nor any alternatives. Anyone got experience of them? Or something else that offers same functionality?

Don't need disc specific levers, best I found is those Cane Creek SCR5.

SRAM levers is nice, especially with compressionless housing.

Weighing up options... Hylex, hy/rd or stick with Jones bars on the "road" bike and SLX...

Hylex - dunno if I'll like the hoods, looks good though

Hy/rd - like my current levers (scr-5), looks ugly

Jones/SLX - cheap, powerful, easy to strap front roll/bags, faux aero position... but the bike looks a fucking mess

Hood on Hylex is ridiculously comfortable, very long but the way it design it feel like you can have more hand position on the hood.

Thanks, can't quite spot it in that vid either. I'm a bit thick. Have dreamed up something involving a ferrule with a large hole in which to fit the thing. Will report back if anything interesting comes of fitting them.

Hylex is a full hydraulic set up.

HY/RD with compressionless almost felt like a full hydraulic.

Flat mount calliper- replacement bolt. Easy to come by?
Whoever assembled my bike put one made of cheese and over torqued it with a helping of loctite.

want 1x (42t with 11-32) .. and I am almost 100% sram now .. have red22 on the CAAD10 and Rival 1 on that ^^^^ biek. Still DA on the posh bike though.
