  • Looking forward to seeing this tomorrow on embankment https://instagram.com/p/BHqauvZBXGH/

  • daily commute thread >>>>

  • Team specialized innit

  • Looks over right shoulder first so knows he's got room to pass, hits, looks over left shoulder. Might not have seen anything but you'd assume he might see a flailing orange hi-vis in his peripheral. Verdict = guilty, your honour.

  • First time I tacked Oxford St in well over a year last week, literally rolling down slower than walking pace, lo and behold a girl shoots out of a crowd and straight into my side. Think she hurt her shin on my QR, which all things considered is a good result for her.

  • This sort of thing's infuriating, from an old blog about cycling but with a slightly ranty leaning. No, the cycle path does not invite you to do anything, it merely whispers a suggestion that you might like to advance along it with discretion, and in this case, with the lorry not completely blocked in by static vehicles and a left-turning junction directly ahead of it, to say nothing of the compromised line of sight, I would answer an emphatic "no thanks m8". Indicators are a nice to have, but I wouldn't bet my life on them. This is one example but it's a common attitude.

  • Not too long until we see pokemon go related casualties if this morning is anything to go by. That's if it hasn't happened already.

  • TIL that the red light on the filter lane to get into the huge ASL at the northern end of Southwark Bridge might as well not be there. 9/10 cyclists will ignore the red, despite the potential for left-turning HGVs going through the green light. Huge potential for disaster there.

  • Finally, I have said it!! this morning to a chap with was riding like a dick trying to overtake and undertake other cyclists on the North-South super highway, particularly when there was a red light ahead and everyone had started to slow down and queue up. I told him to "Have some fucking manners." Then I realised there was no point as he had earphones on.

I gotta admit though, he was riding with no hand a lot of the time and I was tempted to give him a little nudge... I DID NOT!

  • Was on stopline at crossroad near Fiveways today when some RLJing knob rolled past me way out into middle of junction. So far so stupid but a few seconds later what I'd assume to be his son went past following his leader into the danger zone. Luckily no prang despite a lot of traffic but when light goes green (which they wouldn't be aware of) they set off in response to clear road ahead. I hung back to give space and it became obvious dad was a total arse as he powered away leaving kid behind, only to catch up when they got to next junction, at which point they got wrong side of traffic and nearly got left hooked fifty yarrds further along. Kid was patently unsafe on road, bike being one he was probably expected to "grow into" (frame too big, single speed road bike too highly geared for him to pull away without wobbling all over the show). Stayed behind and took line outside kid for about a mile to run interference on traffic before they made a scary turn across traffic (signals were given!) and left the main drag. Boy was about 12-13 years old and I was so tempted to have a word with the Dad about road safety training and issues with kid's bike and all that. Apologies for length, needed to vent. Sad accident waiting to happen with gave me a frustrating sad :^(

  • That's the last time I'm calling anyone out, from now on it's passive aggressive tutting only on oath to my girlfriend. Got punched in the face this afternoon by some thundercunt who nearly took out several people cycling at full tilt over the temporary bridge in Bristol harbour. Don't pick fights with hench builders kids. Police were right there but failed to catch up with him.

  • Have you considered self-defence training?

  • Not before keeping my mouth shut training.

  • The signalling in London has a lot to be desired.

  • The first thing they teach you in martial arts, after all the bowing etiquette, is exactly that - shush your lips up and don't get in a fight in the first place. If that fails then you should run away quickly. Only if that too fails and as a last resort should you perform an awesome jumping spinning hook kick to the hench builder's chops.

I've always got away with options 1 and 2 so far.

  • Sorry to hear that. One day ........

  • Haha, it did cross my mind!

  • Did a few laps of regent's park on the way home tonight. Soon picked up a couple of drafters. Realised after a lap or two that the guy directly behind me (wearing Eagle cycling club kit, I think - blue and yellow) was on the aero-bars, whilst riding directly behind me.

I asked him how he expected to stop in an emergency and he said he'd be fine. I said he was fucking mad and asked him not to sit on my wheel unless he was covering the brakes.

At the next lights he asked if I'd ever done a team time trial. I said no and explained that I didn't want to try one on an open, public road chock full of rush-hour traffic, people and other cyclists.

  • Haha, what a plum.

  • he asked if I'd ever done a team time trial

    Amazing

Find him using Strava stalk and ask him if you can join his Team

  • Should've asked him if he'd ever had any dental work done.

  • What planet are these Cat-5-Cancellaras on?

  • Cunts sticking an arm out a microsecond before pulling out to overtake without looking. Look over your shoulder or I will shout in your ear as I pass.
