  • Have you ridden a tandem in the Alps?

  • I found the brevet too hot, go lightweight.

  • No, but I've read accounts of people doing so on old rim-brake touring tandems with full panniers e.g.

I also know the couple who lugged a tandem round the Highland Trail this year and know how light their tandem/kit was in comparison. I'm not saying it'd be easy, but I think it'd be possible for the right pair to give it a good go...

  • Anyone going fixed again this year I wonder?

  • Last minute panic buying has commenced!

  • Good luck nutters. Will enjoy watching the blue dots whilst on holiday in the Alps...

  • That really is last minute.

Now I think I'm going with bibs (new Assos are lovely) so I need a full zip jersey to go with them. I've ordered four...

  • 7 Emily Chappell
    12 Keiway#152
    60 CarlosBI
    75 skinny
    84 Samuli
    89 bananaskid
    114 TheAdventureCapitalist
    142 hippy

A brilliant turn out. Really getting excited about following the race.

Obviously #1 Josh Ibbett and #4 Ultan Coyle will be worth watching alongside #TeamLFGSS

There will probably be a number of heroes emerging from the pack as the days and weeks go by but the man to watch is last year's uberhero #130 David Coulon.

So pleased to see him back. And he is one of ours @user57556

  • Thanks guys for your interest but i am on the road again in
switzerland as my tracker is showing. I have powered it for my family
like this they know where i am. I ll be back hère to share a new idea
for the next TCR. Your support has been really inspirational. All we
can try we must do it. Thanks see you later. David#130>

But he never did come back to share his idea. Hopefully we will see it in action.

  • Right, my bike weighs a tonne, like its owner but what have I forgotten?

  • Good luck everyone. I am so excited!

  • Maybe I should be asking - what should I remove?

  • Grindelwald is minus fucking one!

    http://xcweather.co.uk/forecast/grindelwald

... and then you climb some mountains...

  • @hippy show us a pic like this and we'll tell you what to ditch.

  • The wheels.

  • Obviously #1 Josh Ibbett and #4 Ultan Coyle will be worth watching alongside #TeamLFGSS

Kristoff Allagaert (#3) is the most likely winner but it will be interesting to see how Bjorn Lenhard (#26) does against him. He's the guy who, on PBP, destroyed the vedettes, took the piss by doing it unsupported while they had helpers, and went on to break the record.

Anyone know who the favourites are amongst the women? I expect Emily C will be in the mix but don't know much about others

  • Grindelwald is minus fucking one!

You'll be laughing wearing those four jerseys!

  • I only have three though.

  • Okay.
Well how about the left crank?

  • I have every confidence in you!

It is difficult to tell how many women are riding. There appear to be around 10 solos and four or five members of pairs but my knowledge of modern European first names may have let me down.

  • hehe

Two sizes of two types. Hope one fits.

  • Your a left crank

  • Is tracking on Trackleaders or somewhere else this year?
