Could you use a centre lock ring that has the teeth on the outside of its diameter - the one secured with a BB spanner or socket? I bought one for a DT Swiss hub:

Mmmm always likes these

Looking at your previous photo, the housing look decent, but could still rattle.
Specialized provide a foam housing that go over the brake/cable housing on most of their bike, hard to fit but completely stopped the rattling.

Love it - great build

Yup, could do, but this is an OTP bike, so a bit redundant. Just silly quality control really.

Usually they tend to supply with that lockring when it come to thru-axles bike, reckon you're right that they didn't realised that they need to add a new lockring to use the Shimano rotor instead of the one that come with it.

whats the deal with centerlock rotors anyway? Never quite understood why they exist. Just because shimano wanted to have their own system?

also wondered this

Engineering-wise, it's a better system than 6-bolt. Load distributed around one fat fixed splined interface is stronger than putting it through 6 weedy bolts that are subject to high shear forces.
Little bit of your suggestion, little bit of the above, and little bit of wanting more people to buy new hubs/wheels/rotors. -

Although I've now got "the fear" that it's something else. Do XX1 cassettes make a lot of creaking noises under load?

Checked your rear skewer?

Long time lurker, tentatively adding mine after that Saeco porn on the previous page..

The wave washer with BB30- if one was trying to rule out axle moving inside the bearings, could you leave it out and use shims to set preload?
-
• #6498
Always use the wavy washer.
Your CAAD12 is BB30a, use the correct number of spacer for it?
-
• #6499
1-3, according to the instructions.

Nice!! CAAD 8 with a 3T Funda?
I always add foam tubing which generally sorts it right out even if the hose is cut down to size.
In other news. The new hollowgram wheels = Pain in the arse. You can't screw the centre-lock bolt on because the diameter of the hub adapters is too big so tool can't fit...but you can't fit the hub adapter AFTER the centre-lock one because the flange is too big.
Call CSG and LOL when they say they know....but can't figure how this came to be.
