  • Bet they're cheering for Bardet to win on every single stage.

  • Yates gets a 10s penalty for a handsling to add insult to injury. Poor lad.

  • so, who should get the 'super combative' award this tour? voting is done through twitter at @PrixAntargaz, my choice is

    Last few KMs:

Finally a fast run-in to the finish line... but I guess everyone's pretty much destroyed by now.

  • The Joux Plane is tough going up, and tough, in a technical sense, coming down. If, as forecast, it is wet it could be chaos.

  • who should get the 'super combative' award this tour?

Obviously it's Sagan in my heart, but objectively it can't really be anyone other the Froome can it?

Dat descent, dat TT, dat attack today on the last climb (inevitably).

  • Do they award combativity awards on TT stages?

  • No, they're excluded, presumably because you can't really attack another rider on a TT. Not directly anyway.

Super combativity is very unlikely to go to Froome - the GC winner hasn't won it since 1981 (Hinault). Possible though.

  • I'll be driving this afternoon :-(

And radio 5 is doing coverage from some irrelevant local sideshow instead of the tour :-(

Is there any online radio that covers it in English?

  • No, they're excluded, presumably because you can't really attack another rider on a TT. Not directly anyway.

That's sort of what a I figured, but hadn't ever really thought about it until Hefty's post.

  • Oh, I see what you mean. I guess TT performances could be factored in to the super combativity award. I don't know how opaque the judging panel's criteria is. But I suppose if they don't award individual TT combativity awards TT attacks shouldn't count. In theory.

  • There will still be radio coverage online on the BBC I think? (unless you mean DAB)

With Yates being docked another 10 seconds, was that because of Luke Rhowe? Just heard that it might have been another incident with a team mate? Edit: Apparently when he had his bike change. Seems it was when he was back in the group though

Also really tragic circumstances, but nice to have Jensie doing the analysis on ITV4

  • We're already live in Oz, aren't you getting the whole stage back home?

  • It's live on ITV4. They are just approaching the base of the Saises, which they came down yesterday. They do a kilometre of that, then turn right to approach the Aravis. Which is one of the most beautiful passes in the Alps.

  • Yep just started

  • Anyone got a cheeky streaming link for today?

  • Steephill.tv usually has one that works.

But ITV Hub is generally really reliable for me so I haven't tried anywhere else for this tdf.

  • So lovely isn't it! And gives fucking great vache. Annoyed I didn't make the effort to go up there this year.

  • I was about to post how beautiful the peloton looked amongst that scenery... Great photography at the start of this stage...

  • This rain's gonna play havoc, I reckon. Not sure if it'll favour the break or the peloton yet - it's so localised that a few minutes difference can mean you'll get rained on or it'll stay dry. If the break avoids a storm on a descent and the peloton gets hit, I reckon we could see big gaps open up. Could be really interesting!

  • Exclusive picture from the making of the Tel Aviv ad...

  • She's wearing too much clothing.

  • Rain is going to be a huge equaliser potentially, coming down hard now very early in the stage.
