The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that portra 800 is just 400 in different packaging... I know it's not but the fact you can push 400 to 1600 makes me question why they bothered making 800.
Some googling finds people pushing 400 to 3200 with not-horrible results.
Still prefer Fuji stuff for those ISOs

Doesn't Porta 800 cost like one hundred pounds a roll? I actually like it - nice colors and grain - but I genuinely can't afford to buy it.
If I wanted an 800+ iso film for a trip like that I would probably choose... portra 400. Rating it at 800 doesn't hurt it much imo (and that's without pushing) + it has more latitude and handles artificial light better.
