Made last night. Really excellent recipe for Katsu sauce here:

katsu curry tastes like curry that's been made by someone who's had the taste explained to them.
it's fucking delish, mind you.

Tastes like chip shop curry sauce to me, but again, delish.

It's not worth making the Katsu curry sauce - just buy the ready made curry cubes

I've used this recipe for japanese curry sauce a bunch, it's better than the packet stuff. It does take a while to do the onions though

Kitchens. Want some open shelves/pot racks etc for a wall in ours. Who's got what?
Was looking at these:
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00315887/
or
http://www.johnlewis.com/hahn-premium-square-wall-rack-black-metal/p231712787
The first would be good for coffee pots/pullout drawers etc but not in stock anywhere except Gateshead and that seems a bit of a stretch.
The latter looks like it'd survive all the abuse I could throw at it but less practical for twee small things like coffee pots/cups.
There's this:
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/categories/series/08006/ but it looks a bit cheap flimsy.
Any suggestions on where else to look?

Slightly different but I put up some steel racks in my kitchen to get the most used pits and pans out of the cupboards as I haven't got that much storage space.
Possible alternative if you've only got a wall, then you could have some shelves at a lower level, or use more hooks to hang them from, though depends how many mugs you have.
I put some shelves up next to mine for glasses and mugs..

On that subject, chip shop / Chinese take away curry sauce stayed at the wife's mother's who runs a take away and I had hands down the best chip shop curry sauce ever! She makes it from scratch no powder mix here, if your ever in Frome Somerset go to Chung ying and get chips and curry sauce, you will not regret it. Shameless plug and all that.

I'm in Bristol next month and driving Salisbury to Cornwall the week later, but unfortunately not in Frome for a while. Saved in the memory banks though, cheers!

@giofox88 do you have a preferred recipe for baccala mantecato?
-
• #24292
Unfortunately not. To be honest I never tried nor heard of it before (It seems to be quite regional)
In this cases my reference is this website here:
http://ricette.giallozafferano.it/Baccala-mantecato-alla-veneziana.html
Not sure how you can translate it in English, but if you manage to get something meaningful (google translate) let me know if you need any help with any lost in translation issue.

Give it a go and let me know which one you like the most! Where did you get this from? Did you try it in Italy?

Tonight's experiments:
Yellow bell peppers stuffed with cous cous, aubergines, red and green peppers and feta
Black (venere) rice and wholegrain rice with peppers, aubergines, carrots, cherry tomatoes and butternut squash

@giofox88
the comments to that recipe are very entertaining, lots of disagreement about the 'correct' venetian style..
yes, ate it in Verona, very more-ish!
I'll get some dried cod and experiment
