Minimum quantities vary by supplier, but are usually 100-150 caps.
Decent prices are usually met at steps in quantity... with the first good price coming in around the 300-400 mark.
If we split over 2 designs, it will split the runs and pricing... pushing up the price of both, and putting 1 of the designs at risk.
I usually order 400 and sell through over a greater period of time. With 1 design this is fine as it will sell through eventually. But if we move to seasonal designs, or multiple designs then we really need to move to the minimum quantities instead as holding a design long-term when we'll change seasonally becomes a risk (a risk backed by me paying a bill now that may never be covered by sales).
Initial orders are normally only in the 150-200 region... so only 1 design is likely to be feasible for minimum order quantities.
I'd rather commit to that in advance, not split the sales across 2 only to cancel 1 of them... and instead have 1 design for a longer period of time and increase the order amount to bring it down in price.
Well now you're screwing with things :)
