• whoops, i think i'll be better off putting the bsa30 into my commuto-x bike

now what is the difference between the rotor 3d+ and the rotor 3d30?

  • The 3D30 is a bit heavier and a bit cheaper. It used to be the 3DF.

does this look like a complete shopping list?

  • Yep, looks good to me. I'm sure there's someone who could lend you the spider removal tool if necessary, but it's convenient having your own.

  • There are also better ones available if you are buying Hollowgram cranks.

  • You'll need the spacers for BB30a but I don't think P2m will sell them to you. It's 5.5mm apparently - velotec sell them.

(you might be able to fudge it with headset spacers)

  • i am hoping to sell my cannondale cranks to you!

  • do i also then need the 6mm spacer on the other side?

Use this 5.5mm spacer for BB30a framsets.

For 30mm axle ROTOR cranks, use 11.5mm on the drive side and 6mm on the non drive side.

This 5.5mm spacer can be combined with the 0.5mm nylon shims supplied with the cranks.

  • For BB30a you need the 11mm spacer supplied and a 5.5 (or 6mm) spacer for the NDS.

  • I've got a cheap set sitting here for now.
If I don't get the new bike rolling very soon I will likely be after your crankset though.

  • Anyone got the power2max lock ring tool for the s-type powermeter? Condor doesn't seem to have one (shocking)

  • I'm selling some powertap wheels here in case anyone is interested:

  • will i need to use the spacers for both the cannondale and the commuto x bike?

i want to get a spare set of chainrings, but can't find a way to order 2 sets on the power 2 max website

  • I think on the BSA shell you won't need spacers as the two outboard 30mm cups fill up the gap.

  • Why would you need more than one set of rings?

  • I think on the BSA shell you won't need spacers

External bearing cups in a BSC shell should use the spacers listed for BB386EVO. Spacer E (a shim, really) stays where it is, but swapping from the Cannondale to the commuter requires a change from spacer D (11.5mm) on both sides to spacer A (2.5mm) on both sides. Mind you, the Rotor crank instructions don't agree with the table, so it could be spacer B (5.5mm) on the drive side and E on the NDS, or if you believe the Rotor BB instructions it's spacer E on both sides and nothing else.

  • They are much cheaper from power2max and I'd be using these cranks daily so would expect to need a new set of chainrings in a year or so.

  • Powertap seem to be discontinuing the GS hubs as they are down to $299 at the moment

  • Cool, ta. Assume the 2.5mm spacers come in the box or with the BB.

The Synapse BB is bb30a so 73mm wide asymmetric ... so requires a smaller spacer - 5.5 or something - on the NDS.

  • Which is what, £600 these days?

  • Assume the 2.5mm spacers come in the box

With Rotor, I'd assume nothing, but the spacers probably wouldn't be so prominently on sale if everybody who bought a crankset already had a full complement.

  • What's the concensus on the best software/training system to use for setting up a proper structured training routine?

I've always relied on sheer volume of training combined with club rides/races for fitness, but changes in lifestyle mean that I'm not racing, club rides are getting fewer and farther between and there are too many interuptions to my routine to rely on getting sufficient volume. So I'm going to try switching to an entirely turbo based cycling life and treating any commutes or club rides as a bonus.

Over the last 6 months I've lost a lot of fitness and want to get it back up again as quickly as possible, build on top of that if possible and plan to start TT'ing once I'm up to speed. I'm guessing I'll want to create a training plan of FTP tests, weekly plans of intervals and try and get out as much as possible on top.

Back when I was running my wired PowerTap it was Training Peaks offline software and after I'd dropped off Trainerroad was just about getting going. Is Trainerroad still king?

  • You can try GoldenCheetah for free and switch to TP if you don't get on with it. I'm using it and finding it fine, but only have a couple months use under my belt and have never used TP so in no position to say if it's better or worse. My instinct is that as it's free/open that it has most of the functionality, just with a poorer UI

$299 converts to £300 once you change location.
