25c corsas g+ baloon out to 27mm on 18mm internal.

• #3453
Hmm, may have to go with 23c then. Cheers!

• #3454
They baloon less than the old corsas, u might get lucky.

• #3455
Maybe, but then it's a $150 gamble. Tempting, can't go back to skinny tyres! New bike is a solution though.

anyone compared Challenge Cronos to Vitorria Cronos - tubs?
Basically look like the same tyre - are they manufactured together? -
• #3457
Challenge is quoted as 60g heavier. Makes me think it's not the same. Might both be made by Lion tyres though. Rich had one on his disc for the National 10 last year because it's a bit tougher than a Record/VitCrono.
I now have 5 Vittoria Cronos maturing in the loft :)

I just bought a bunch off PX too.. decided that nothing is worth using Challenge, even £10 off per tyre.
-
• #3460
Is there a code? I'd like a couple more Cronos.
-
• #3461
Not that I'm aware. They're 39.99 each. Not cheap, but a long way from the £60 I was looking at paying for getting some from Germany or Italy last month.
Given the way things are going - it might be prudent to stock up on expensive Italian tyres now, before they all cost £80 a pop.

Given Cronos are discontinued and there doesn't seem to be an equivalent replacement, I'm buying up stock with a view to selling for profit on TTF in 6 months time.

Veloflex corsa 25c on shimano rims (21 external width I supposed) anyone manage to make a note of the real width?
-
• #3464
Don't have calipers, but for what it's worth they're narrower than a Conti 25mm.
I'm running 25mm Corsa with latex inners on Campag Zondas and really like them.

Thanks! So I'm guessing it will be closer to 23 then.

Top marks for my graphene corsas ✔️

I'm after some gumwalls mostly for posing but a bit of racing too. Veloflex Masters seem to fit the bill as they have good grip, are affordable and are lightweight. It seems their not the toughest tyre though - what are people's experiences with them on rough English roads?

Finally the weather has given me some proper sun baked tarmac to ride on and right now I am finding my Conti GP4000 really lovely. It seems heat brings out the best in these tyres. The bike feels so much more nimble.
Can't remember if that has been discussed in this thread? The ideal temperature for a tyre?
But that also prompts me to start start looking for something else for when the temperature drops to around 10 - 15 C' again. Any thoughts?

Worn a new G+ Rubino pro control rear down to the casing about a year before expected. Fucking shocking.

Saw some 30C S-Ones - they look sexy.
But, what normal non-tubeless tyres can I get in 30mm or 32mm that are fast rolling and decently durable? GP4000SII seem to be the go to for 28s but 30+?

Riding on Veloflex Corsa 25's (the black walled version of Master) and love them. Probably about 200 city / 600 country miles so far, no cuts and punctures. Good dry grip, not tried them in the wet. Very comfy in combo with latex tubes at 90psi front/100psi back.
On a wide rim (18mm internal) do the vittoria corsa G balloon out beyond 25mm? My old open corsas in 700x25 used to rub in the rear stays of my BMC but they looked more like a 28 once inflated. Currently using Schwalbe ones in 25mm and there's about 3mm clearance.
