So assuming white industries are 3/32 then (I Havnt even looked) It's just finding what will run the smoothest yeah, the sturmey Archer is 1/8th so won't be ideal Coz of noise, best solution is to upgrade the freewheel to 3/32 white industries when getting the SRAM setup I'm guessing

It's 3/32.
And you don't need to upgrade to White Industries to make it smooth, using 8 speed chain also help.
Just buy the Alfine chainset and a Halo Clickster.

• #3454
the halo clickster is rated then?
-
• #3455
they're great, more than sufficient. super loud if that's your thing too.
also fyi, the internal diameter of an 11 speed chain is the same as 10/9/8/7 speed (or indeed any 3/32 chain). it's just the external diameter that changes, gets thinner as the speeds go up, so for singlespeed that doesn't matter.

they seem a bit more reasonably priced than the white industries freewheel aswell.
ill be running singlespeed regardless of crank setup as the bmw is 120mm rear and has track dropouts so im keeping it simple. i guess for now ill run the sturmey archer 1/8 freewheel to 1/8 49 tooth chainring/omniums and look into a 42 tooth setup 3/32 - halo clickster on the rear

or just buy the clickster now and run it with a 1 1/8 chain. shouldn't make any difference
-

i have the sturmey archer now it arrived this morning and for £10 ill stick with it for now i think see how i get on

pretty sure the sram force cx1 cranks run off the GXP BB omniums do, they look pretty sweet

This.
I usually fit Shimano 3/32 freewheel on customer's bicycle with a 1/8 drivetrain (Shimano being a bit more reliable than SA).

Be wary those are BB30, gxp arent really in stock anywhere (that I could find)
-
• #3462
yeah i just linked for the picture, will have to hunt for the gxp axle next. be easier if i can get hold of them so i can switch out cranksets and keep BB
-
• #3463
Ed, can you please stop suggesting the Alfine cranks to people on every thread, they look like shit and are only good for mating with Alfine hub in the back
-
• #3464
Have you thought about fitting the Alfine chainset?
-
• #3465
Lol why? Where? You mean my belt-driven AWOL? No, I made it work with my rivals (luckily)
-
• #3466
Alfine is great!
-
• #3467
I'm thinking about getting one of these for the Focus... they look pretty bombproof
-
• #3468
Saying that... over £200 for a crankset is a bit of a kick in the nuts... fleabay might have to be visited
-
• #3469
get used sram red gxp
-
• #3470
im thinking for now just to use a velosolo 42 tooth 144bcd on the ominums
-
• #3471
goes in for the brake stud welding tmr, trp cx8.4's and sram levers arrived today

Why not, Omniums aren't exactly the worst cranks in the world, I'm only looking at the force CX1s as I've got gears
-
• #3474
I actually think it looks pretty nice with the hoods and drops, once it's all taped up and the brakes are run should be awesome
-

Don't doubt that for a minute... good to see a BMW used for something different.
The SRAM is 11spd so what chain they running, it baffles me.
It will work with whatever 3/32 chain you can find, 1/8 can work but will creak.
