you want to blow something up, but have no clear plan for what should replace it! All emotive language, engerlund! engerlund! Sack the lot of them, but no concrete understanding of how it would make the game and the england team better, knee jerk emotional response to an inevitable early exit that we could all see coming, as that's england's current level, despite the rah rahing of the premier league (best league in the world) which it patently isn't since the players that we are producing keep getting dumped out of the first knockout stage of any international tournament we see.
France and Portugal with leagues that we deride as being one/two/three horse races, produce enough quality players to get them to the Euros final (uninspiring as it was) whereas we can't yet still hype the Premier League as if money is the only thing that's important, and then get upset about players being on £250k a week and not putting a shift in!Yeah reform is necessary but it's not going to happen anytime soon, money talks, reform walks..

Proven at making shit teams less shit...sounds like we could do with a bit of that

Have to say, as great as Sissoko looked, I actually thought France were poorer for having him on the pitch. He did a lot of 'ooh, nice!' stuff, but when it came down to it, he generally didn't deliver much 'end product' as the pundits say. Lots of bustle and power, but needed to be a bit silkier to get past Pepe and co. Thought France would have been better with Kante deep and Pogba further up. As underwhelming as pogba was last night he links up so well with Griezmann he should never be left that deep, the two of them looked adrift yesterday.

Burnley's main transfer dealings this close season have also been signing random youngsters for the development squad who will never break into the first team.
-
• #129458
But what if one of them turns out to be the next messi?

You boys gave my boys a hell of a beating on Saturday. We declared it a good exercise though and were well in it for 30 mins.
I see Burnley are after Jeff hendrix. He's too cool for the championship

Yes and he used to play for Barcelona

Or more famously, Man United reserves.
-
• #129465
Was he good for them? I really hope so
-
• #129466
I'm not sure Jonathan Wilson writes articles about reserve players that I can pass off as my own.
-
• #129467
Isn't there a history to this type of deal between man utd reserves and boro. Greening and Mark Wilson springs to mind. Must be more duds from the Robson and mclaren eras

• #129468
Greening won the champions league I'll have you know.

What's John Beck doing these days?
-
• #129471
Hopefully planning a second return to Cambridge United and two successive promotions...
That and trying to work out what the four players in between the defence and attack are for.

Per Wikipedia:
As of October 2013, Beck was working for the Football Association in
coach education at the St George's Park National Football Centre,
training coaches working towards their UEFA B Licence. The next generation is in safe hands.

Without ever kicking a ball. I rate Greening, he's started at York (and came back for a few games last season before ending with a red card in a 6-1 defeat to pompey.. ) but I just think his best days were at WBA and Fulham.

• #129474
He was alright at 'Boro. Won player of the year one year.
Times be tough now tho
