Maybe he is just too human and makes mistakes under pressure?
The sharks be circling...Hamilton has smelled the record deals...

To be fair, there's a difference in having your "Turn it up to 11" mode actually turn it down to 8, and having a few cogs ready to go bang.
Kind of agree with the asking for advice though. But I can't help but think that was an instinctive question and had the pit wall said "Sorry Nico, we can't tell you that". He'd have figured that out by himself. I think it's fair to assume he's a better driver than all of us and has a better understanding of how the cars' gearboxes work than any of us, like the rest of the drivers.

I just don't like him.
Historically, all of the great drivers have been technically minded. Senna and Schumacher were notoriously good at development, as was Lauda.

I'm not a huge fan myself, I find him incredibly bland and boring to watch. Though we can't deny that he's quick, and that his racecraft isn't up to scratch with Hamilton, Alonso, Vettel, Verstappen etc.
He reminds me a lot of Jorge Lorenzo in Moto GP, pretty much all of his wins come from speeding off from pole and letting the pack squabble and slow themselves down. Whereas Rossi & Marquez are perfectly comfortable coming back from the lower reaches of the top 10 to fight for wins. I know which I'd rather watch.
Then again the fact that Rosberg is getting some wins means the championship is closer than usual which can only be a good thing for the fans.
I'd say Lewis is a great driver, but I don't think that he's better than the average F1 driver regarding development.

Alonso and Button in 7th and 8th. The progress continues.

I hope Button gets a seat at McLaren next season and enjoy the fruits of his labour.

Very promising finish for McLaren, with Alonso only losing out to the McLarens, Ferraris and the Red Bulls. Good stuff from Palmer to finish 12th, despite the one error. He had a chance of a points finish, but maybe next time.

Anybody get the F1 connection here?
Hint: A previous team boss.

Martin Whitmarsh. America's Cup is as cutthroat as F1 so he's a natural fit for the job.
Great result for the BAR team but you'd expect them to top the rankings being able to train there year round.
Volvo Ocean Race is where it's at for me.

Has Americas Cup not been standardised anyway due to cost?
ie, the boats are all the same now...

Well this is pretty crap news: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/36902822

Hmm. It sounds like he wanted to leave more than the other way round. He basically performed witchcraft for them though, so I hope he goes on to something interesting.
Doubt it will be McLaren though.

Back to Enstone...
Maybe.

Indeed, can't imagine a team pushing him out.
I was looking forward to Ferrari getting on top again, guess I'll have to wait for next big regulation shake-up (probably about 6 months after the upcoming one...).

Here's a conversation I missed when it happened (2012). Interesting that Newey (or an imposter) didn't think that much of Rosberg's ability. I am not a fan myself, but I think Rosberg has proved himself when alongside Schmey and now Lewis.

I fancy Ricciardo to have a real chance of the win tomorrow.

How will he beat the Mercs you think? I'm a bit of a newbie so please forgive if this is a stupid question, but is there a technical or strategic advantage to be had by Red Bull on this specific circuit?

The gap has got substantially smaller and Mercedes have run into technical problems here and there. Nothing to say Mercedes won't fuck up and let red bull through...
He's a twat.
Lewis was in technological trouble in Baku and his mechanics refused to tell him what to do. He had a moan about it, but got on with it.
Nico just shit the bed.
I'm (maybe foolishly) assuming that Nico's not quite so savvy about how everything actually works because if I'm told to avoid 7th gear, my immediate response would be just to double-pull the paddle in 6th once the revs were high enough.
