What do you mean? If the bleed process is done with the pistons further out (using a smaller block) then the whole system will have more fluid and the pistons will 'start' further out, no?
Removing the springs won't help, I mean. Silly reply function, a smaller block should work fine, as will making it think the pads are worn by giving it a squeeze with no rotor.
That won't work, it's the pistons that are the important part.
