Both the Steinharts that I have are (very direct about being) homages to famous Rolex models - the Military Submariner and the Steve McQueen Explorer.
The Seiko that I have is arguably more honest - it's just what it is.
That said, I have not worn the Seiko at all this year, and I wear one of the Steinharts pretty much every day.
I could buy an actual Steve McQueen Explorer, I've been close a couple of times, but I very much suspect that it would sit in it's box for most of the time, and it'd be a total disaster if I FUBAR'd it when working on the house, working on the car, coming off the bike etc etc, whereas with the Steinhart I'd be annoyed, but then I'd just buy another one, or wear it with it's scars.
