Ritz is great and unlimited (nice) wine from 6:30-10:30 - the views are brilliant it's around $850 (our friend works for HSBC so we get 20% discount). Feels quite special.
There's more choice at Shangri la and lunchtime is $400 per person - so it's pretty good value. Runs from 12-2:30
Also go to Tim Ho Wan in the IFC mall in the basement 1 floor above the MTR

Excuse terrible pics. Dinner party on Saturday, yasai gyoza, miso-marinated portobello carpaccio, roasted sweet potato and mushroom ramen and vegan chocolate cheesecake with various fruits from the garden. 10/10 would entertain guests who bring top-notch South African wine again

if you've got some time in HK and want something different, I recommend the Shandongnese place on Burd St in Sheung Wan. Lamb ribs and dumplings are particularly good. And the cold noodles with shredded chicken.

Going to make feijoada on the weekend, anyone know where I can get smoked pork shoulder, smnoked pork belly, smoked pork ribs, smoked sausage and ndjua, in Brixton/South London ways? Was thinking the Colombian butchers in Brixton Market, but have never really looked at their wares so am unsure if they'd have it, and don't have a lot of time to be heading from one place to another, just on the off chance.

Never noticed smoked stuff in that butchers but you could always ask them where to go to find some... Buy some sausages while you're there, obvs...
-
• #24234
yeah i've only ever drifted an eye across them, so can't say for definite if they'd have the smoked goods, will definitely get some sausages.
I'm also thinking that the Portuguese butchers just down from the fishmongers on electric road, might have some that's where I got my meat the last time I made feijoada, though that version wasn't smoked.. -

that view from Ritz is great, wondered if the food matched the view. Thanks for the run down.
@Chadders81 I was after cold noodles the other day will check that place. -

They've got salted pork, I'd buy it for Caldo Galego from there... They've got chorizo and other bits and pieces there (really excellent Italian sausage) but never seen smoked stuff... The Portuguese aren't very big on smoking AFAIK, curing yes...

I'm drawing a blank corny, I'd use William Rose in Dulwich and the place on Forest Hill but don't recall seeing smoked goods.

The Butchery. Has great stuff but is overpriced and they won't have the smoked goodies I don't think. Will check for you tonight big man.
William Rose is well worth a look. Love that place.

Orly? Nobody has ever told me about the Hyatt. Maybe next time. We've left now but ate tremendously well. Spent a third of our time their eating, a third shopping and a third hungover. When I'm back in the UK I might chuck a few photos up of the various things we ate in KL, HK and Singapore

http://www.seriouseats.com/2015/02/how-to-make-the-ultimate-vegan-ramen-rich-and-creamy-vegan-experience.html and http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2013/02/miso-marinated-portobello-carpaccio-pistachio-recipe.html are the main two. Gyoza are fairly standard and Kate just freestyled the cheesecake (but supposedly the chocolate does the setting well enough that it's pretty hard to screw up).

I'm with @inchpincher - I would be surprised if they had smoked anything at William Rose
What about Flock and Herd on Bellenden Road? - http://www.flockandherd.com/
Jones the Butcher down the road from the Reej? - https://jonesthebutcher.wordpress.com/No direct experience with either though.

@inchpincher, I like william rose as well but it's a tad too far out to be a regular go to spot...

Chefs table at Maze on Friday. Excited!

Sorry Corny I don't know where to buy that stuff, only make it. If you find nduja tho, pls tell me! I have noticed various dried/smoked things handing up in the shops on electric avenue, never been bold enough to find out what's what though!

Jones don't have any smoked stuff at all...
At least they didn't a year ago...

• #24248
Smoke your own, it's bloody easy...

It's an outdoor BBQ so maybe a bit hot at the moment but it's all you can eat steak and lobster.
Sounds like you've been well nourished anyway.

Do Las Americas have a butcher too? I know they have sweet treats and Colombian snacks, but sure I've seen a butcher in there sometimes.
Large shop next-door has just started selling their own ice lollies. Guava & cheese is one flavour. I'm very intrigued.
