  • 95%. 87% is for 100s!

  • Start low and just up the power @Sainsburys_Ed better to up it and finish strong than crack.
So start at 83 or so. and just up it after 20mins once settles if feeling good.

  • I see your game. Going to pass on that option thanks....

  • He's right though.

  • Not 100% of what my FTP was at the time, but I definitely did over 90% last year.

    Obvs personal though.

  • I did a pretty crappy National 50 and that was still ~91%FTP

  • Normalised or Average? Hilly wasn't it?

  • You may be ok, but it looks like your elbows may pushing the limit of the maximum 3cm from the centerline of the headtube.

  • Average, but I don't think there was much between AP and NP.

  • Selling my Flo90 if anyone is interested.

  • Front. @vince has a rear for sale of that's what you're after.

  • @umop3pisdn how much? Pm if you don't want to tell all!

    What you switching to?

  • FFS, I sent you that in confidentiality!

  • Speaking of wheels, CRC sent me an email 8 fucking days ago saying my wheel was ready.
Where the fuck is it then? Label box, call courier, it's not that difficult.

  • Right then. Company riding.

Twice now in longer TTs I've caught someone (interestingly from the same club) for a few minutes a fair while into the ride - so not the biggest speed difference, but I'm the faster rider. I've overtaken them, and they've then drafted me for an extended period of time.

Today I caught my minute man 20 miles into a 50 - so theoretically I'm putting 2.5 minutes into him right? I passed him, and a few minutes later I notice he's still sitting 5 or so meters back in line with me, not staggered as if he was overtaking. This continued for the rest of the ride to varying degrees, apart from with 10 to go when he passed me. I dropped back 25m or so, but started gaining on him again so I passed him. Again, he sat on my wheel and crossed the line 3 seconds after me.

My understanding is that the responsibility to not draft falls on the rider who has been passed - I certainly don't want to fuck up my pacing putting in a big effort shaking this guy off my wheel.

    What do?

  • I had exactly the same thing in a 25 earlier in the year (different person and club but also west London based) I was lucky in that it was a desolately empty single carriageway so put in a bit of a surge and rode in the right of the lane for a few hundred meters.

Have no respect for said rider and they should be named and shamed.

There's probably a proper line of action but who knows what the various sets of rules and regulations actually say..

  • What do?

Ignore while riding, report afterwards. Your report would probably require corroboration by a marshal to have any effect, but even without getting the dick disqualified you might persuade the event secretary to offer words of advice. There are large numbers of noobs in TTs who are utterly clueless about the regs, and he may not even know he was cheating. If he was a triathlenger, he may have thought 5 metres was acceptable, as that's about the size if the exclusion box for non-drafting age-groupers.

  • I told the organiser, if only to make it clear that I didn't want to be negatively associated with said rider if the situation was misinterpreted, i.e. we'd ridden it as a two-up.

Unfortunately, both riders were from a reputable club and are old enough to know better - one of them apparently has a reputation for this sort of thing.

I've been in a similar position, been overtaken and then found that I can match their speed. I overtook the rider, they then picked up the effort and dropped me proper.

  • Its 10-12 m in triathlon, depending on the race organisers, so no excuse for 5m, but this wasn't a triathlete....

There is too much drafting in triathlon (any is too much imo) but the rules are incredibly strict! In IM if you enter the 12m zone you have 25 seconds to make the pass or you get a 5 minute penalty, and you have to make the pass even if you decided you won't make it and drop back you are still likely to be issued a penalty of reported by a static marshal or spotted by a moto..

  • this wasn't a triathlete

Now that I've seen the start sheet and identified the name, I can see no possible mitigating factors. If he was drafting, it was deliberate cheating.

  • That effort to drop him would've got you your :49.

    Crush them.

  • Thought it was 10m?
