Hi guys,
I've just bought a wheel set with 8 speed Campag and don't have the 8 speed shifters. I have 9 speed Campag shifters and wondering if I use 9 speed spacers with the 8 speed sprockets will I have many luck in getting it to shift nicely?
I would have to use 8 spd chain but my derailleur is 9 spd also, so maybe that's an issue.
Should I just get rid of the wheels and start again?
Thanks

Found some discussions online:
If the hub is that early, and has a 10mm in diameter axle rather than
12, no go. If it has a 12mm axle, then yes, however, and BIG however,
those 9/10s FH bodies were only made in 1997/8, so they are scarce. In
1998/9, all the hubs went to the oversized aluminum axle type FH and
those will not work in that hub.So if you are lucky to have the more recent 8speed hub with a 12mm axle, you can change the freehub body for a 9speed one.
Still, good luck to find a spare! -

Worth a look! I'll check back when home, keeping hopes to a minimum. Thx Breso

Am I right in thinking this is one of the rocking horse poo freehub bodies that is 10spd compatible but fits on an 8spd hub?

Looks like 8 speed Titanium to me.
Rocking horse poo just like the cassettes...

Hmmm. It does indeed.
Strange as it came off a random mirage/athena 8 speed hub I bought for cheaps on ebay to get the lockring I think...
The wonders you find when rummaging through the spares box! You needing any random odds and sods? found a couple of headset uppers, a crank dustcap and lots and lots of chainrings/bolts...

Stick it on Retrobike or eBay and cash-in on someone else's problem: Record Titanium is $$$.
Thanks for the offer, but [shudder] I've put all that behind me now.
