I need to be at work at 4 (logged on from the sofa). No chance I'm spending the night before brexit riding round vote leave territory.
-
• #4
But you'll be up all night watching the enthralling election night coverage anyway won't you?
-
• #5
Bulk of the counts get declared at 4am, should have an idea of the result by 6.
-
• #6
Out this week. Sucks. I love Ingatestone.
-
• #7
would like to be there @middleofnowhere,
-
• #8
ps., what's the route to be taken by the abstainers?! :-)
-
• #9
Why would anyone abstain in an in/out referendum? I thing the word your looking for is "idiots" and their ride starts at Lands End and heads straight south.
-
• #10
Stop talking balls, everyone has the right to vote remain or abstain as they see fit.
-
• #11
I see what you are doing there, but in the interests of democracy, for better or worse, we do have to remind those who want to leave the EU that they should go and cast their votes on Friday.

• #12
I'll bring along a German friend for sure, and maybe others.
-
• #13
I won't make it.
But I suggest you all reconsider and ride this route!
-
• #14
That is very long :(
-
• #15
Also some of that route goes out of its way to go up a hill instead of only going up a hill because it's in the way of the pub.
-
• #16
I don't have the numbers to hand, nor can I be bothered to look them up, but I think it's the same length as riding to ingatestone and back.
-
• #17
It does look fun though.

At last, the truth about your new hobby is exposed!

fittingly being framed by some as being In to be the tail that wags the dog, eh, :-)
can we have the gpx for the Europe route perhaps to celebrate Remaining, or commiserating Brexit of a weekend?!
-
• #20
ps., is anybody from the Referrendum thread attending to express their voting preference, or riding a bicycle for that matter?! :-)
-
• #21
(only a little bit aimed at you @Oliver Schick !!)
-
• #22
ps., looking like a wet Ingatestone until about 9pm (!), so rain-disturbed gravel to look out for as well as road-crossing deer!
(they look so much more tamely better behaved in the west London parks..)

• #23
in the event of rain / water-logged road (there is a lot of rain falling right now, and more forecast for tomorrow!), shall we just have a pint in The Bell, or would that be too close to expressing the abstain voting preference!?
.. or, perhaps express a preference for European unionism - but not for the expansionary Eurozone (single-currency), hence take a left into Blackmore Road, for a shorter route / pub tour.. (!)
-
• #24
Is the ride still on or are the conditions deemed to wet? There's nothing in the ride protocol.

It's a tough call. The weather forecasts look ok but I can see on the radar a big wall of water heading towards us. I would be less than keen on getting a soaking.
The solstice has just passed and night will fall as late as it will all year. The place to make best use of the late sunset is in the wide open expanses of Essex where we can roll for 38 (errors and omissions excepted) pancake flat miles under a near endless twighlight.
It'll probably piss down but we can have a pint in The Bell and grab a bag of chips for the train home.
Liverpool Street 19.18 arrives Ingatestone 19.45
Return trains 22.02, 22.32, last 23.02
