  • Lots of traffic + concrete surface = loud

  • Just browsing Strava over breakfast, as one does.

    Can anyone explain this ride:

    https://www.strava.com/activities/310697553#11041787141

It's the KOM on the Bentley 100, and as far as I can make out, it is total fiction...

  • Isn't that the tandem pairing from last year?

  • Ah Tandem, I didn't think of that - cheers.

  • At the moment the only ones I can really do are the 25' on the 17th July and then either the F15 or F11 10' events on the bank holiday weekend in August. Would be great to team up/have some company.

  • Oops, wrong user name.

  • @tommmmmmm

I'd be well up for sharing petrol money and talking endlessly about bike parts on the way to the 25m on the 17th. I'm Hackney way - would love to get a second 25 in before seasons end.

  • Ok fair enough. I've never really considered the volume of TT courses, that kind of thing ranks a fair way below "what colour socks will I wear" :P

  • That was me and my new bike...

  • First 10 for an age this evening (my previous two were seven years ago). Will be happy if I get under 30mins on my Road Bike, and don't get lost. Spent a while last night trying to get my head round the two lap course and get it into my Garmin

  • @onyerbike

Happy to take you both if I can get NLTCBMBC a CTT affiliation in time, or join another club with that - though that's going to be an issue with kit etc isn't it?

    Who are you guys with?

Also, I have roof bars but only an attachment for one bike. You could either get one or make sure your bike can fit in a car boot!

  • Lfgss.cc is free to join and is (I believe) ctt registered.

Being a member of both NTL...CC and Lfgss shouldn't be a problem as the events are run under different governing bodies BC for track and road, CTT for time trial.

I'm not certain on the exact rules regarding kit, but in reality it will almost certainly be fine for you to rock up wearing any kit you like (within reason and so long as you aren't Scottish). There are no commisairs, and the time keeper will almost certainly be too busy to care.

  • Someone rode the Newbury 12hr under LFGSS.CC, wearing a Tyneside Vagabonds skinsuit.

  • I regularly ride in my university skinsuit despite now being a member of the local club instead. I even had a brief chat about it with the pusher offer on Saturday and everything was fine.

  • If I were to join LFGSS CC, would I need to register them with BC as a second club?

And would they not be funny about the advertising seeing as how our kit technically does carry advertising and therefore should be liable for the £50 fee?

Out of interest, does LFGSS CC have to pay the advertising fee, seeing as how the kit is technically advertising a website?

  • What @ewanmac says is correct. You can wear non-club kit in CTT events (must have sleeves and not be pro or trade team kit).
BC is irrelevant for your CTT affiliation but dk what BC might want.
I don't believe lfgss pays an advertising fee (I'm on the London West CTT ctte). Its not a commercial site so don't think it would apply.

  • Thanks for that. All sounds good.

Next question: Recommended gearing for the H25/8?

(For a not very fit fixie skidder)

  • If you are in East London and want to start TTing then why not pop over to the Velopark this evening for the Lea Valley Tuesday Tens.
The first rider is off at 7pm and £10 to enter .

  • Lea Valley Tuesday Tens

  • Happy to fit my bike in a boot, it's not expensive nor precious. I'll be riding for Islington, although never even think about wearing club kit.

I did get a bit of a telling off for not wearing it at our Open last year, but a Large fits like a bag and the Medium turns my arms into sausages so I haven't ever bought it. I smiled and feigned ignorance we even had a skinsuit.

  • I haven't got a drilled fork for my fixed gear bike yet (or a seatpost collar), could I do it on a road bike?

If so, I may come along.

  • If you're in west London, we (Westerley) do TTs at Hillingdon on Weds evgs. There's a road bike category.

  • Tough one to gear for as you'll hit 40mph+ at the start.

  • Then do you have to go back up whatever that is?
