That's a relief that none fell out if it was my suggestion! How have you attached the cages to the aerobars? Any special hardware or just cable ties and human ingenuity?

I bought these Topeak things in the end. Tried the cable tie method and it just rattled.
Today however I went over some cobbles and it was looking a tad jumpy. It would be pretty embarrassing if I had a double bottle ejection climbing the Muur.

It's hard to know exactly what the angle is, but they do look a little bit precarious. Have you tried braking hard when they are half-full, when all the water will go to the front and possibly unbalance them?
If they fall out when you are going in a straight, it's not too bad but my big worry would be if you brake late for corner on a descent and lose one, and it goes near your front wheel. -

You could position the mount on the rise of the S-bend extensions, whilst also raising the angle of the extensions slightly to mitigate bottle ejection?
-
• #1831
I suppose six cages should be enough. Although maybe you could fit a seventh under the downtube.
Just got my doctors note. About 100€. I guess it's not bad but feels like wasting.

100 fucking euro for a doctors note?! Fuck that. Mine will be signed by Dr. A. H. Ippy
As for those bottles on the aerobars - don't you find it slows down your turning too much? Fine when you're zipping along straight roads but it must be a ballache in towns dodging cars and peds and stuff?

I called up my doctors, that I haven't been to in a year. Spoke to the doc that did my note for me last year (over the phone again), he changed the date and re issued it.
Just need to go in to collect it and it's free! -

I'm being sensible and I've actually checked with mine and it'll be £15 so I'll get it with some of the jabs.
I hope they don't fuck me up before the 50 this Sat.
-
• #1835
I'm not bothering with any jabs.
When you short insurance, don't call it a race. As there is no prize money, it's a ride.
I used insureandgo last year. I've used them before and made a big claim with them when I was really ill while in NZ. They sorted everything no issue. So I just use them mostly now.

I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow so will take along the wording that someone posted on facebook and see what they say / want.
Need to look into insurance so will try insureandgo.
Had rabies booster and TBE the other day. Arm tender for two days but didn't feel it when I was riding

They consider it cycle touring, which is standard. However, you don't get personal accident/liability.

How many L do you have?
Would a platypus not be easier than all that? -
• #1840
4.7 litres. A platypus would be easier but it's too late now for that

Be sure to double check that this is indeed how both the TCR organisers and the Insurance company see it. I've heard enough scare stories of insurance companies trying to wriggle out of paying that I always try to make double sure that everything is clear.

Fair point. When I spoke with insureandgo. They said as no prize money, not a race.
Just a mass participation organised ride. But yes, skinny will not be held liable for your issues. So everyone double check yourselvs!

• #1843
Yeah. I can do 4L.
Can you not get 1L bottles in the cages behind saddle and on the frame and ditch the under tri bar ones?
Those ones behind saddle are 750ml so swap them for 1L and that's ~500ml right away. -
• #1844
It's called a race though. If it comes to actually needing insurance, you might want to think again about saving that £20 if it means they don't pay out because you weren't accurate when buying it? I dunno, I'm just paranoid.
-
• #1845
I confirmed with insureandgo that they considered it cycle touring. As above confirm yourself with whomever. Obviously I'm not saying don't do your due diligence. Just that I did insure with insureandgo and they considered it cycle touring.

Get rid of all those bottles and stop at more pubs. Beer is mostly water...
-
• #1847
Coolio. I'll ask.
-
• #1848
I meant I could do 4.7 litres and when I get 2 more 1 litre bottles I will do. Unfortunately my frame is minute. I can't event fit a 500ml bottle on the down tube. I can get a Lezyne 700ml side entry bottle on the seat tube just about.

Dam. I take for granted my long legs.
Personally, those front bottles just look like a disaster waiting to happen to me, like frank said. Why not try the apidura food pouches and bottle a bottle in one? know it's more money!
-
• #1850
I'll figure out something with the front bottles, there's so cages that I know will be safe but they're pricey. Some guys on the FB page suggested that I use sandpaper...
I've already got 1 feedbag and it's fantastic, gonna get a second one too.
Didn't see that. Thanks.
Don't really use fb.
