I'm not. I entered thinking I'd bash out a 10 PB and 100 PB without really paying attention to the afternoon start plus early morning start. I emailed my DNS to the organiser already. I was still thinking I could use the 10 as a shakeout ride but then I got a bit crook so thought better to just rest up.

Can't believe I never found that.
Actually I can, I've been riding up and down the nearby A41 so probably never been on that road. Added to my map.

What is this voodoo? Strava plugin? Kids these days... :P

• #13505
You should kill it tomorrow then. Only problem is all the other fast fuckers are racing too :)

How'd you do? Seen Twitter. Well done.
I bonked at 2h30 like never before. Bit of a fuck up on my part. Need to address my eating in days before, as used same feeding as last 100 on day. Lesson learnt.

DNF for the bonk? You should've crawled home you lazy git! :P
I started maybe a bit quick, spent the middle two hours in a finely balanced fight between keeping club record pace, stopping my leg going numb and overusing my glutes until they ping. I had so much left in the tank I rode the last 5mi like it was a 10. Probably a good couple of minutes to take off if I can sort my leg out but I'll probably not ride another 100 this year.
My leg is still numb now which makes me think it might be nerve-related and not vascular after all. Might tell my physio this wonderful news and see what they say.
10min off my PB and club record so even with the 2L of snot I ejected in the first lap I did what I wanted to do. Pretty happy with it, considering.

Shame about the leg. Maybe amputation? But congrats.
I rode to 92miles then took the turn to fulbourn. CBA!
I'm not sure what went wrong, used same feeding strategy as last 100. I can only think, the early start meant I had a small breakfast and didn't eat enough in days before.

Got a photo of the results sheet? Want to spy on a clubmate.
-
• #13510
Congrats. My club record got beaten twice today, sadly on neither occasion by me because I wasn't racing.
Speaking of club records, my club's record for 12 hours is just under 240 miles. That's starting to look like low hanging fruit...

A bit like Hippy's arse.

Para is the only way I'd get into an Olympics. I'll think about it.
It's never stayed numb this long before. It'd always go away as soon as I sat up which is why I've always thought it was blood flow related. Also it never happened in longer races 100s, 12s, 24s but now, after doing loads of stretching it's worse in a 100. Perhaps I cured the vascular issue and now it's a trapped nerve or something. Stupid feeble human body.I had soup, pasta, wine, tiramisu the night before #fatfuck
Had an energy bar when I woke up, bit of carb drink too and a gel before the start.

I pile on the pounds, I don't pound on the piles.

• #13514
Do it. 240 would be a piece of piss. I know a fat, boozehound forrun that can do that in his sleep ;)

Can't be arsed uploading - name?

Western Hardriders loved up to its name today, nothing ridiculously hard, just a few short sharp climbs and very rolling.
Finished in 4:19:22 and 7th place I think, so pretty much bang on my target, had been caught by Matt burden with half a lap to go, unfortunately he then hit the deck, hoping he was ok, he had people with him as I went past so didn't stop (feel a bit guilty but there was nothing I could have added to the situation)

Was Tring yesterday? I live there, I could have come and heckled.
-
• #13518
Yes, I rode it and so did @umop3pisdn
I got a 21.48 which was another improvement on my PB. Apparently the wind was in the wrong direction. I like the fact that it's not a straight out and back, so it's easier to mentally break down the ride into sections. That and the massive gift hill. -
• #13519
Good work, it's a tough but honest course. Hope Matt is OK.
-
• #13520
I overheard more than one person cursing the wind and how it had messed up their entire annual PB chances. Weird.
@umop3pisdn nice to see you again fella. Hope you went well..I managed the club record albeit with 70psi in the rear tyre by the time I got home!

• #13521
Good ride - you utterly stuffed me.
Certainly didn't feel like a fast day, though my legs weren't firing to well either. Had to stop at the first roundabout too which really fucks up that whole section. @ewanmac was there too, how was your ride in the end?
2016 Vs 2014, which was basically the opposite conditions:

I got stopped at the first RAB as well which def didn't help. The Marshall was great though, all but stopped the traffic so I didn't have to actually put my foot down!
@umop3pisdn is Richard Bussell not in the same club as you? - edit miss read who got a club record,

@hippy Mat Robson, oxonian.
Tring was bad for me. 20secs slower than last time. I could definitely feel the benefit of a few weeks at high altitude, but plane flu more than countered for that. I felt like shit the entire day.
Fingers crossed that I'm recovered in time for h10/181 on Wednesday for a course pb before I start to lose the benefits of altitude.

broken elbow according to strava, sounds like there had been a minor road accident so there were a load of cars stopped blocking the entire road giving him nowhere to go.
id say its a little more than honest, but you western lot seem to like lumpy roads (or not have much other option!)
-
• #13525
Shit that sucks.
Yeah plenty of lumpy stuff round these parts.
Mate was asking when I was coming over to drink the beer he brought back from the US... good call.
