Paint the right half or the panel one colour and leave the rest all shiny.
Or just paint the entire front panel and get inspiration from older designs.

Get it chrome plated?
-
• #11879
Not a bad idea that, i had thought of painting the panel white.

Powder coat the panel?

That would be nice too, maybe in the future but this one is a budget build as it's quite far gone structurally and cosmetically, but it's perfect functionally. I think i'm going to have a band printed to cover the bad bit. Either Italian tricolore or arc en ciel, possibly chequered flag.

Definitely a Ferrari stallion.

Looking at those pics i reckon it would look lush fully finished in white. I might have a word with the powder coater, see if he can fill the pitting before coating. Can you powder coat over filler?

Best places for buying nice ground coffee in Bristol?
-
• #11885
I believe there are fillers that are formulated to accept powder coating; should be no problem anyway though if it's a really small and thin coat.

You can buy direct from Extract or Clifton. You can also usually buy ground coffee from small street and maybe full court.
If you're in bath ever, it's worth heading to Collona and Smalls as Max is now roasting his own and it's pretty good.

I have this model of Rocky:
And this mechanism doesn't work properly:
i.e. when I use the lever the mechanism doesn't rotate properly, first I thought I needed to screw the nut tightly, didnt work then I added a couple of washers to increase the pressure from top, still doesn't work. Any solutions?
Also where can I get the hopper lids cheap?
Disclaimer: I bought this 2nd hand and it was out of action for about 6 months; this weekend I took it out, gave it a proper clean, checked the burrs etc.

You should get the parts and turn it into a doser-less version.
When I had mine, it was the return spring which connects the lever mechanism to the rotation bit that was snapped.
(I sold it on Gumtree in the end)
OT ( I need help with new Champagne labels if you fancy helping)

Dont mind doser-less .. can I convert this one cheap?
Will FB you.

Unfortunately it wasn't as cheap as I expected as the parts from Rancilio aren't cheap.
Look at the exploded view diagrams online for the parts but you need a portafilter holder and sprout cover.
IIRC It was about £60 of parts all in so I didn't do it.
It'll be cheaper to buy the spring. -

Oh really? Cool. I'll look into that, I thought it might need filling with brass or something.

I have to say that I am very grateful to @Tenderloin and @hippy for pimping Electric Coffee Co.
On my third order with them and all the coffee so far has been excellent. Their cafetiere grind has been spot on for me. My sister and brother in law were over from the US and drank it all and raved about it as well.
They are out of the Mexican coffee now though. Very, very sad face.

Would agree with that. And didn't know he was on here - bought a frame off him and then walked out without paying for my coffee last time I was there :-)

I went for some of Small St's house blend - will try Full Court Press next time!

FCP was awesome when I was in Bristol. Highly recommend.

Is that a La Marzocco? If it is, leave it unpainted and polish it.
Oh, and perhaps get in contact with LM UK, they might be interested in picking up a bit of their history

Yeah, we grind now at FCP, plus weve got some Colonna on the shelf.
What do you reckon to this? This machine has brushed stainless panels which my mate polished up, it's quite a rare and desirable finish on these machines, most of them are painted. Those run marks are deep corrosion - i always prefer natural patina to restoration, but i'm not sure rat look is compatible with food service equipment so i might have to paint it. The other option is to stick a stripe over the ugly bit.
