Well, I've just finished my first 50 on the E2/50c. Definitely wanted to go under 2 hours, hoped to go under 1:55. Ended up with a 1:54 dead, which is exactly twice my 25 mile PB (on the E2/25) plus 2 seconds. Hopefully that'll be good enough to get me a place on the Shaftesbury CC 50 in July.

Cracking time for a debut, well done!

Doing it wrong, meant to be (2x25)+2 minutes.
Nice! I think 50 is the best distance.

Did my first proper 25 today, in steady/intermittently heavy rain, on J2/9 in Cheshire, with plenty of standing water masking its numerous ruts and potholes.
Did 00:57:10 on 97" fixed.
Much preferred the rhythm of a 25 to flat-out 10 pace. Looking forward to giving the same course a crack on a dry day! Javelin visor wiping every km was a PITA. -

25s are where it's at I reckon. I also ride 97" too. 57:10 is a great time man, you could smash it on a good day.

Perry is so quick.
Bussell is very quick too. -

Cheers, I was pretty chuffed to be honest. If only I'd realised where the finish was, it could have been a long 1:53.
Oh, and it turns out that two of my club-mates and I now hold the club team record for a 50. Which is nice.

I think it's more of a reflection on the fact I haven't done a fast 25 this year. They've all been sporting courses except for the E2/25 on Dowsett Day, but I'd done a 25 the afternoon before. And my start time was 6.21am, so you could've used the A11 as a setting for a post-apocalypse film, it was so deserted. And it was very early in the morning.
I'm doing the E2/25 again on the afternoon of 9th July, so hopefully I can knock a chunk of my 25 PB then.

With all these rapid rides of late on the E2/25 I'm beginning to wonder if my LTS of 56:36 will get me back on there.

Anyone here used on of those Fabric TT saddles?
-
• #13340
No, but it's basically a ripoff Sitero. That £30 one on TTF is worth a punt.

Can't seem to see it - Got a link to hand? cheers

• #13342
Ah sorry - it's in the UK TT FB group

50:02
50:02
02:00
1:42:04Really? That's almost 10min faster than my current best. I have just done a 600 so my brain is a bit fried. Did I mathsfail?

Where's your 50 pb vs 25 pb? Maybe it's 5 minutes, I forget.
-
• #13345
It was 5min in my day, basically 1mph if you're in the 1:0:0/2:5:0 area, probably a bit less speed drop and much less time drop if you're fast.

Oh yeah, E2 vs. Wales
I clearly need to ride a 50 on the E2...
-
• #13347
H50/8a worth doing as well. Could be fast.

Wussing out on my first evening 10 (K37/10P) for a few years due to forecasted heavy rain tomorrow night. Riding on dual carriageways in heavy rain seems a bit risky, or should I HTFU ?

A31? Out.

If it's heavy rain they might cancel it, no?
If they don't it's up to the individual I guess. I'm a bit more risk averse than when I was younger but I grew up dodging fuckwits in fast cars on big roads using the cover of darkness for safety so my system is a bit backwards.
It's only a 10.
Well done :)
