doesn't seem to be with the frame, the amount the nut protrudes from the cassette is VERY small, it just seems wayyyy close for comfort when the other wheelsets I've seen (although they were shimano/sram) seem to have much better clearance. will update with pictures in a bit, our only thoughts were to use a washer of some sort to add a bit of clearance but id rather fix it properly if I can!

Yes they do by about 2mm. The last cog on the cassette is definitely closer to the dropout than it is on my other housemates caad though he's using SRAM on fulcrums. But I thought fulcrum and campag hubs are very similar. It's just that the axle nuts seem to be only protruding past the cassette by 1 or 2mm and so the cassette is very close to the frame once tightened up. OLD doesn't really matter I don't think since once the skewer is on, they're pulled in or pushed apart to the correct width anyway Shirley
