it won't fit my wheel because the thru-axle takes up the space where the tool goes
That's a different question. Just admit that Ed was right, because when he said that a BB tool fits a CL lockring, he was correct as far as he went because for each type of CL lockring, there is at least one BB which uses the same tool :-)

"What tool do I need for centerlock disc on SP dyno hub? The thru axle is taking up the space a normal cassette lockring tool would slot into, only the small spline gaps are accessible."
This was the question.
His answer is wrong because the tool required can be a cassette tool OR a BB tool depending on the hub in question.
You're more than welcome to try and tighten the lockring with a BB tool. I'll come and visit you in 1000 years when you've worn the hub body to dust and the lockring isn't any tighter.
Yeah, but it won't fit my wheel because the thru-axle takes up the space where the tool goes!
Hence me needing a different lockring, which I have ordered, which renders this whole conversation pointless. But I'm tired and not interested in actual work yet so we can go on and on in circles if you'd like, you know I'm good for it.
