Isn't it compression not bending back?
I use daytonaevo boots, as I had a bad experience of a van trying to run over the back of my foot/heal and drove off. Lucky I had witnesses. Daytona supplied a replacement set of boots and the insurance also paid for another set. The movement is very limited as they are designed to ride in and not walk around.

If your toes were bent back to the extent where that became a problem, you'd be pretty fucked in any case.
