Following this thread from the very start and loved all the bodging and the bike, but I guess you could have invested in a nicer saddle or compact bars with road levers instead in a silly wheel :)

Burn. What's up with a Unicanitor? It's pretty much the only saddle I find comfortable.

Hey Jonny! I have a very similar BSA from 1938. It still has the original mudguards and rod brakes. Needs a lot of love which I've entirely failed to give it. It's too small for me or I'd consider putting together something similar to your build.
Some bad pictures to be found here but I don't want to spam your thread.

Wa gwarn bitches. Not done much new on any of the bikes except measure up the decals on the CHOPT ready for a repaint at some point.

Had the keyhole done on my knee. Busy working on the rehab, so using the Vitus for light duty riding.

Blue colour is best colour!

Can't ride at the moment due to ongoing knee problems. Giving serious thought to having this resprayed while it's off the road.

I found some decals in Ukraine!
Not been riding this winter due to my knee injury which means this hasn't been getting much use. I may strip the frame and repaint while it's out of action.

If it were mine, I'd treat the rust and give it a couple layers of clear coat like @Rik_Van_Looy 's bobrat. There's just something really special about a battered golden soviet bike. What are your plans for the re-spray?

It's actually pretty bad now and what's left of the paint is mostly flaking off. It doesn't really show up in the pics. Takes quite a lot to look after it.
I got two sets of decals because I quite fancy a low maintenance satin black this time round. Then I've got another set for later to re-do it properly in gold. The colour is almost identical to the late 90s early 00s Toyota Aygo gold

Also. Currently living in the hall where it annoys SWMBO. Brakeless because everyone knows that's best for a bad knee, right?

Personally I'd say no to a repaint.
But equally if the frame is going to die unless it's painted then paint is probably not a bad idea...
I think you should clear coat it like the bobrat, that is an ace bike. -

Fuck yeah, I'd forgotten about the bobrat. I don't think there's any risk of frame death, because it's such thick steel. For now, it's just had a rub down with an oily rag.
Oh, and some risers I had under the spare bed. Seemed to go down well with the Staines Massive this morning. Even the bloke on the fruit and veg stall was like ra, I really like that bike mate!

Nice, although I prefer it with the corima four spoke! In case you don't like the corima anymore, holla at me ;)

I made a tough decision. The media needed changing in the wet-blaster at work which meant a chance to strip the paint off the XB3. Felt a bit sick when I actually started doing it, but the frame was starting to look properly scabby. Don’t feel quite so bad now it’s done...

As is typical, the pics make the paint look a lot better than it actually was. Typical sort of state was this.

The small blue Vitus became this bigger black Vitus. Way too big for me so I really needed the size between the blue one and this one, but been bumming around locally on it. Did 50 miles on it yesterday morning with a mate and felt it. My bad knee was fine but my legs were SPENT!

What are the paint plans?

I went for plain satin black, changed my mind and added the decals, then changed my mind again and lacquered over the top. I didn’t get a chance to get a pic built up, but... I’m not sure I like it.
Never mind. That’s why I got two sets of decals.
