^^James, the camera is not important, what matter is which sound device to bring along to help making all the wild animals coming out. Unless you want her coming back home with just pictures of sunrises, blue sky, grass, sand, water, etc...

A camera is actually needed, I can make noise.

For African safari, I would aim for something with a good zoom lens... Nothing is ever as close as you think it will be. By and large your subjects will be in the open and well lit, so high iso and superfast lenses are slightly less of a priority.
I also recommend buying a good quality spotting scope and a local bird guide :-).

would you say the panasonic lumix dmc fz1000 seems to fit that description

Used to have a Lumix super zoom. Genuinely great little cameras with really long reach. Not so great in low light because of the tiny sensor but in good light, they're awesome.

Pissed Jeans? Such a great live band. One of the best drummers I've seen.

Sorry, I don't know. I'm not familiar with that camera, and I'm en route to my own adventures so can't easily look it up.

no worries, your comments about zoom being more important than lens speed led to us getting the panasonic over the sony camera and saved us £500. so your advice was very useful

Hive mind
What camera should my wife look to buy to take on safari?
Would a digital bridge camera be a good idea?
The one she'd most like is the Sony rx10 iii but it's not year available here.
