  • I love the look of the synapse, never ridden one though!

  • And the kings of limited tyres clearance.

  • Go test ride a Synapse, they're better in the disc version.

  • Anyone here have experience with a synapse??

  • I may have to do so..

  • I had big phat 25's and 26's on my Emonda no problem, on wide rims.

You don't really want anything larger than that on a road bike!?

  • @dancing james has one

Test one out, see what you think.

  • You don't really want anything larger than that on a road bike!?

I do have 38mm on the carbon road bike...

  • doesnt count if you're running 650C wheels....

  • I have 28s on my caad and it's lovely. Wouldn't want less now.

  • This is lovely

  • I guess you can go round and round in circles with "I've got this on this bike and I'd never use anything else" it all comes down to personal preference!

Entirely opinion and personal circumstance, I just find Open Corsa SC 25's the fastest, most comfortable tyre I've ever used! Tried a few 28 and 27, 30 etc etc and things start to get slower and spongier (again, purely my experience) at anything over 25!

  • That does look very nice (apart from the saddle)

  • Every time I go into an Evans or other Cdale stockists, the bike I find myself looking at, staring at, is always the Synapse!

  • Yeah man I get you! I've not ridden half the tyres people on here recommend. So I can only comment on the tyres I've used, I've never had a problem with 28 rubino pros.

I may give Evans a ring and see if they have a 56 synapse..

  • Synapse Hi-mod disc especially.

The alu Synapse and cable pull disc brake model can >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Or 700c 30mm.

TBH, it's more about the fact there's not much choices for other than just you, having a bike that limited you to 25mm can be a little annoying.

  • This. All of this.

  • *with better finishing kit and OBVZ clement strada Bianca 30's GUMWALL

  • *and Obvz low stack headset cover and stem slam

    That is all.

  • Hi-mod synapse is fucking great, speaking as a previous owner of a supersix and a caad8. It doesn't look as quick as the supersix but if you invest in great wheels you'll get back what you put in and it'll make you smug with much clearance on 28c tyres when your supersix brethren are wincing with 0.5mm clearance with 25s. Proper cobble muncher if you ever fancy Flanders too!

  • New SupetSix Hi-mod have same clearance too, do you can have race fit and big tyres (especially the new disc for 2017).

  • Yes the new frame looks perfect, but I'm yet to meet anyone who owns one though. I think there's a lot of distillation of knowledge of previous synapses into the new supersix. Or maybe I'm transferring my own consolidation of a supersix and a synapse into just a synapse?!

As soon as Paul's cycles has a load they want thave shift I'll be first in line.

  • I have a synapse disc "adventure" with guards and Apex hydro groupset.

Can't fault it for winter training / commuting, could be a bit lighter

  • I bought 25mm challenge stradas, as 30mm seemed a tad bit too large to fit on wide rims and 27mm paris roubaix's have extra layer of puncture protection which adds rolling resistance.

might try some other 26-27mm next summer or something, but been perfectly happy on those 25s now
