LOL at pedals.
It's not the pedals. It's one or more of the other things.
-

Definitely the pedals. I did speak to someone else who uses them and they said they can alter how your stroke feels.
Definitely the pedals. Just let me believe that

In fairness they could be annoying.
But they wouldn't make you struggle doing an effort.
I reckon you're a bit tired, then a bit adjusting from 2 days off.
I took 2 days off and sucked on the turbo yesterday. Becuase I'm still tired.
I once to 3 days off totally, and then smashed the fuck out of the turbo. But then I wasn't tired, was fresh and rested.

Having 2 days off isnt going to make you instantly strong though.
I cant do Maths at the end of a demanding day at work. I'm probably best around 9 after a few coffees.
try waking me up at 6am fully rested and ask me to do Maths and all you'll get is a confused look and a nasty silent fart.
The body needs to Wake up.

Delayed and delayed turbo session this week. Legs are ok, back is fooked so breathing is funny and a cold seems to be trying to start something with me. I'm going to hit the turbo tonight and see what happens. 2x20 I reckon and if the first one goes wrong, I'll lower the wattage and tap out a tempo 30min or something. #csb

It can do. Everyones different. It depends what you've done in the days before the 2 days off. I just took 2 days off, from -50tsb having put 20 points on my CTL in 12 days. The first day back was always going to be bad, still -20. But I took 3 days off before, which brought my TSB to +15. I fucking killed the turbo the first day back. It totally depends what you've done before the days off, as to how the body will react.
I do my maths (serious) best at 7am in the morning, when I've first woken up. Can't to anything in the afternoon. Only thing I can do in afternoon is CAD work or project write ups that are easy.

The night before my last race. Me and a mate practiced steep hill attacks. More to spike the HR then anything.
Then on the day I was able to squeeze that little bit more out mid Climb to og around the Wheel in front and bridge the gap he'd opened. Its that ability to og into the red that I lose if I'm too fresh. Just feel blocked.

Mental.
You need to be fresh to go super fucking deep. That's why track cyclists for the kilo do very little before a race.

I hurt it throwing metal around.

• #1440
Ha*. And that's why puny cyclists shouldn't go near weights.
*sucks, sorry.

Currently having fun in Majorca comparing this year's times with last year's. Great success!

You're the skinny one. I'm built like a tank. Problem is, tanks get shot at now and then.

Question for the hive mind...
Been looking at secondhand direct drive trainers in view to introducing some structured training into my week;- Elite Turbo Muin - Progressive resistance
- JetBlack WhisperDrive - Manually adjustable resistance
Regarding the resistance mechanism, any obvious merit of one over the other?
Will be using with a Rotor InPower for power+cadence and heart rate monitor. Possibly Training Peaks for guidance. - Elite Turbo Muin - Progressive resistance

I've heard elite muin is shit.

Ta. Pushes the JetBlack into the lead. Was shitness to do with longevity or just terrible to use?

It has a reputation as having very low kinetic energy and therfore pore Road feel. It feels like riding though treacle. Lemond revolution or tacx neo best for road feel. Lemond is very load and tacx very pricey though.

Thanks danb. I need cheap and quiet but would prefer no treacle.

Anyone seen any good studies or writing on super-compensation and the time period.
Wanted to do some more reading. -

I swear it works for me.
Ideally i want a couple sharp HR spikes with minimal stress on the legs.
I think it may partly be that i got new pedals fitted when i got back, and they definitely feel different, like they make my stroke feel odd. Am swapping back to my old ones til I can get a cleat fit.
But probably all the other things i'd mentioned above aswell...
